So I've decided to do a crossover/fusion. After a long debate with
several others in my Anime club (Brandeis Otaku) I came up with a title
that was originally intended for a nebulously planned convention, which
blossomed in my mind as a full fledged story idea.

Otakalypse Now!

A fusion featuring Ikari Shinji of Neon Genesis Evangelion, D of Vampire
Hunter D, Ajo of Key: the Metal Idol, Kei and Yuri of the Dirty- I mean
Lovely Angels, Ataru Moroboshi of Urasai Yatsura, and many more.

The plot is vaguely reminiscent of the movie Apocalypse Now, which is
itself a derivative of the book, Heart of Darkness. All characters are
trademarked by their respective authors, and not myself.

Otakalypse Now! Part One: "Introductions"

The noise of chopper blades was unending. It coated the city, a
constant companion for the hordes of refugees that clogged the streets.
A constant reminder to the merchants, governmental officials and
photographers that filled the buildings of Saigon. The latest wave of
choppers carried their normal load of military 'advisors,' medics,
supplies and food. Along with the normal odds and ends necessary for an
city under siege, they carried a pair of specialists, sent from Central
Intelligence Agency with recommendations from a little known agency
called the 3WA.
The two agents clung to the seat of the Bell UH-1 Huey tightly. Each
was dressed in a manner that military specialists were accustomed to,
drab green fatigues with a tightly fitting baseball cap pulled down low.
Polished black boots adorned their feet, and each carried a strange
looking sidearm. The two specialists chatted back and forth over the
drone of the blades.
"I can't believe we have to wear something this bad," the red haired
one said.
"Come on Kei, we're going to war, not some party," the other said,
tying her deep blue hair off and tucking it under her collar. "Besides,
its important for us to look as much like regular soldiers as possible,"
she added, squaring off her slightly too tight uniform.
"Fat chance of that happening," muttered the pilot as he brought the
chopper low over the grass square that was to be his landing spot.
"So, what did they say about the mission?" the blue haired one asked,
pulling a candy bar out of her pocket.
"Nothing more than what they told us before. We're looking for a
businessman who fled into the jungle almost a month ago."
"Businessman? What the hell is a businessman doing in the middle of a
war?"
"Yuri, do you really need me to answer that?"
	"A military contractor?"
"I thought you were the smart one?" Kei answered testily. "Yes. He's
the son of the Chairman of Ajo Heavy Industries in Japan. Jinsaku Ajo."
"Not making it easy for us, are they?"
	"When do they ever?"
The chopper touched down softly on the grassy field, and two men ran
over to the open side door. Both were wearing US Army uniforms, but each
managed to look completely different. The taller one looked much older,
a gray beard covering his face. His uniform was lacking all rank
insignia and he carried no sidearm. Instead, he was chewing on the end
of his pipe, and nodded in greeting to the two agents.
"Captain Henry Gloval at your service, ladies."
The two agents shared a glance.
"I thought you were with the Navy?" Kei asked.
"I am. But the Navy is interested in Ajo Heavy Industries. So here I
am." The blades of the chopper sped up again, signaling the pilot's
intention to takeoff. "If you ladies would come with me," Gloval shouted
over the blades, hand pressing his hat down tighter on his head.
The Pair followed Gloval and his assistant off the landing pad, down to
a series of trenches that ran across the improvised base. As the group
reached a small bunker, Gloval sat and stuffed his pipe. After he lit it
with a match he turned to the two expectant agents.
"Allow me to introduce you to your aide, Shinji Ikari."
The young man who had accompanied Gloval to the pad stuck out a hand.
"Hello," he said glumly.
"Ah, a pleasure," Kei said as she exchanged a glance with Yuri.

I don't know if I'll keep writing this, but anyone else who likes the
idea is more than welcome to it. This was mostly just to see if I could
start it off. As a side note, all the characters listed at he beginning
will make an appearance eventually, but I wanted to see if anyone had
any comments before I wrote a whole bunch of stuff.
