It often seems that people ignore some of the best stepping stones in
animation which give them a perfect lead-in.
One of these I'm actually making use of in something I'm writing now.
Again using Sailor Moon as an example.
(and I'm using the first example as a jump-off myself.)
The episode where we find Makoto has previously known an award winning
writer who she bullied/befriended and moticvated tyo write.
She is (in the anime) hesitent to say really anything about the past
relatioship which we see in select flashbacks.
Another....
The fresh from the pool Sailor Mercury taunts Sailor Moon saying that
her only romantic threat for Tux boy is her. She then is chased laughing
and giggling around Tux-boy by Miss Moon.
Who knows...
Maybe young master Chiba needs some intelatual "stimulation."
Makoto/Ifurita the HomeComing would also work.
The slightly more mature Makoto returns to the arms of Ifurita.
