What happened before: Terry Bogard, after defeating Gesse Howard, left for
Nerima in order to get away from things for a while and to try and forget
all the misery and darkness that had recently happened to him, what with
the death of his love(Lily) and his teacher(Tung Fu Rue). However, when he
arrives there, he is soon faced with a challenge by Kim Kapwhan, whom he
defeated, asides from that, he meets Ranma, Akane and Nabiki, who seemed to
stir something within him On their way to the Tendo dojo, Terry battles a
German named Wolfgang Krauser who had been waiting for him. The battle was
short, with Terry getting beaten to a pulp.

Ranma and Fatal Fury part 3:
 The Wolf and the Rose

There was nothing but darkness. Darkness and pain. Darkness to such a
degree that even silhouettes could not be seen.

But, within the darkness, there were brief flashes of light. Light that
seemed to present a woman at the same time. A short brown-haired Japanese
woman, or upon closer inspection, was actually still a young girl, probably
not even in her twenties yet. Within the light, when it did appear, the
young girl is seen running towards something with a look of anguish on her
face. Anguish and despair.

In the many flashes of light which dispelled the darkness, the girl is
still running, until a large dark figure appears from out of nowhere, and
takes the girl. Grabbing her and forcing her away from what she was running
towards. The look of despair on her face has changed to a look of fear, the
girl's mouth is in a wide "O" of terror, screaming........

"NNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

Terry abruptly woke up, reaching out towards the girl, only to regret his
sudden action as nearly his whole body reacts to his movement with signals
of pain. He groans, and realizes that it was a dream, only a dream. But....
where was he?

He was on a bed, and his body was wrapped in bandages, particularly his
head and rib area. But how...?

"Terry, are you all right?" asked a feminine voice in Japanese.

The Hungry wolf shook his head in an attempt to clear it and get his
bearings, then he whirled his head towards the source of the voice. And
came face to face with a young woman whom he did not know.

"You've been sleeping for three whole days." whispered the young lady, who
was dressed like a housewife, complete with apron.

"Feeling better?" she asked with a sunny smile.

"Yeah kind of okay." Replied Terry as he returned the smile, only to
realize that there was someone else in the room and beside the bed.

The girl shushed him in a motherly fashion, and pointed to the other
sleeping girl. To Nabiki, the last thing he saw before he descended into
the blackness of oblivion in the fight against Krauser. Feelings of warmth
swept over Terry, and he smiled affectionately at the sleeping girl. A
smile that seemed different from the one he had earlier, as if there was
something else in that smile. Something special.

"Nabiki" he whispered to himself. And as if her name was a summons, Nabiki
stirred, awakening from her slumber.

"Mmmm?" she mumbled, barely awake.

"Hi" said Terry softly.

"Terry, you're awake!" Exclaimed Nabiki, who instantly shook off the
haziness of sleep.

"Yup, although I'm not feeling too good at the moment."

"Thank God, I really thought Krauser killed you!"

At the mention of the name of the man who defeated him, Terry frowned and
remembered the beating he had taken. He was Terry Bogard, the Hungry Wolf-
although Joe liked to call him the Lone Wolf or even the Lonely Wolf at
times- and he knew that he was a very good fighter. It was not pride that
made him think that, he knew he was good, if not one of the best, and to
find someone who took him down so easily was disturbing, to say the least.
In fact, it was downright depressing.

Nabiki noticed the sudden shift in his mood and tried to change the topic:

"Oh Terry, let me introduce you, this is my elder sister, Kasumi." Said
Nabiki, indicating the girl with the apron.

"Nice to meet you Terry." Said Kasumi as she bowed.

Terry, not wanting to be impolite, smiled wanly and also bowed, although he
was getting really depressed and badly wanted a beer, or better yet, sake.

Both sisters noticed his melancholy though, despite his efforts at not
being obvious. Life had been hard for Terry Bogard, and as a result, human
interaction had not been a priority for him. Hence, almost anyone could
read him like a book. And both Kasumi and Nabiki saw that he was depressed.

Terry leaned back on the bed, back to the soft pillows. As he did so,
Nabiki began to fuss over him, much to the amusement of Kasumi, who chose
to slip out at that moment, saying that she still had some housework to do.

Terry was too tired to even protest or feel anything over the fussing. He
didn't even notice Kasumi leaving the room. Instead, he looked out the
window, towards the sky, as if his mind was elsewhere. Nabiki noticed this,
and sighed to herself. Evidently, he was still rather out of it, especially
considering what had happened, but still, she wished that she would at
least pay attention to her..

"Now where did that thought come from?" thought Nabiki to herself, Damn, he
had affected her more than she thought. Him and that dream with him in it.
She continued to muse on this for a while as she fussed over Terry,
although her efforts at this were rather half-hearted now, as her mind was
elsewhere.

She also wanted to know who the girl in the photo was. She had seen the
photo when she had helped Kasumi put him to bed and place his things away.
She had taken advantage of the moment to check through his stuff.

The first thing she had seen was the photo of a beautiful woman with long
green hair. She was breath-taking actually, and it bothered her. She wanted
to ask him, but knew that it would be rude, not to mention that it would
tell him that she had actually looked through his stuff while he was
sleeping.

At least she knew more about him than in the beginning now, thanks to her
contacts, she was able to learn that Terry Bogard really was a very good
fighter, from a place called Southtown, and that his father was killed
before his very eyes. He grew up to be a champion fighter in order to
avenge his father, or that was what speculation said. He also had a
brother, one Andy Bogard, who was a businessman and had graduated from a
prestigious college. Terry, on the other hand, never even finished high
school. Definitely not her type. Supposedly.

Then why do I feel so jealous about the girl in the photo? And why the hell
am I so possessive over him? I only just met him! Thought Nabiki to
herself. Stupid dream!

Worse, when Nabiki tried to get her contacts to find out about the girl,
they hit a blank wall, its as if she never existed. Of course, the fact
that she only had a picture and no name to go with it made the info search
a lot more difficult, but still.

Terry suddenly turned away from the window, only to realize that he and
Nabiki's faces were only inches apart, way too close for comfort.

This surprised Nabiki too, as it took a few seconds for her to register the
close proximity of their faces. Both of them just stayed that way for a few
minutes, faces near other, mere inches apart, lips nearly touching, the
other feeling the other's warm breath on him or her. Both of them gazing
into each other's eyes.

Terry turned away first, breaking eye contact, and looked out the window
again. "Um, so where am I?" he mumbled out.

Nabiki was blushing a bright red now, although Terry couldn't see that. She
didn't like the way Terry was affecting her, not at all, or maybe she did,
for at the same time, it did feel quite good. She tried to rally her mind
to answer his question. "You're in my house, the Tendo Dojo."

"Oh" was the reply.

"Um, yeah." Was her answer.

Clearly the conversation between the two was going very well.

						-*-

Several days have passed, with Terry using the time to recover from his
wounds. With the passing of those days, Terry has been introduced to the
rest of the family and he has realized some things about them and himself.

First of all, they were mostly emotional and somewhat crazy, if not
afflicted with a magical curse especially the master of the household, Soun
Tendo. He had never seen one man shed so many tears over nothing! The only
ones with a semblance of normalcy among the household would be Nabiki and
Kasumi.

Second, he realized that Nabiki had taken a liking to him. Actually, any
fool with eyes would have seen that. Ranma was already able to notice that
the first time they met. Which kind of says a lot about Ranma and Terry.
Further proof of this? Terry was recovering in Nabiki's bed, in Nabiki's
room. Nabiki herself now slept with Kasumi, although she was usually in her
own room, watching over Terry, even when she had homework or other things
to do.

Third, he really wanted a beer. Not that he was going to get any, he was
under strict doctor's instructions not to take any alcohol, and Nabiki had
recruited the entire household to watch over him like a hawk. No alcohol
was going to pass through his lips for a long time, that was for sure.

He was not in a good mood.

After all, he had just gotten his butt kicked and he couldn't even have a
beer to drown his sorrows.

Thankfully, he still had fighting to look forward too. Or he somewhat did
anyway. After what had happened to him with Krauser, he wasn't sure if he
still should fight at all. He didn't seem to be as good as he thought.
Nevertheless, stuck with nearly nothing to do and no one to talk to, what
with all of them being in school or somewhere else, he exercised and
trained.

He was doing his three hundredth push-up when Akane came in to visit.

"Hi Akane! Where's Nabiki?" asked Terry, still continuing his workout. 301,
302.

"She had something to do, she told me to tell you that she might be home a
little late."

"Oh." 310, 311. C'mon, a little more.

"Terry, should you be exercising that hard?"

315. "Well, I don't have anything <grunt> else to do, do I?" replied Terry.
"Its not like I have a job or <geh> something, and its not like <hah>
Nabiki is going to let me out of this room."

"Hmmm You could try the school, we could really use a P.E. teacher." Said
Akane.

320. "Me?, <huff> a <puff> PE teacher? Gah!" said Terry as he collapsed on
the floor. "What makes, <ga hah> you <ga heh> think I <puff> would be a
<hah> good teacher?"

"Well, if I heard it right, you are a pretty good fighter, and you are in
good shape." Stated Akane matter of factly. "Besides, I can see you're okay
already, you probably heal as fast as Ranma. How come you aren't out and
around already or something?"

"Nabiki wouldn't let me." Replied Terry deadpan, already having recovered
his breath. "She thinks I have to stay here until I'm fully healed, which I
already am."

"Oh, okay, well you could always tell her that you know."

"I did! Or I think I did, but the next thing I know after telling her, I'm
back on the bed!"

Akane giggled. "That's Nabiki, she was always very. Persuasive."

"No kidding."

They both chuckled warmly at that.

It was at this point that Ranma and Nabiki came into the room, Nabiki
because she wanted to check in on Terry, and Ranma, because he was looking
for Akane.

"Hey guys!" said Terry as he saw them get in. It was amazing how these
people could seemingly uplift his spirits, especially Nabiki.

"Yo. So Terry, when are you gonna get well enough so that I can kick your
butt?" said Ranma in a funny tone.

Akane and Nabiki rolled their eyes. Ranma had been making joking with Terry
about that nearly everyday now.

"I'm good for a spar now." Said Terry with a grin, as he got off the floor.
"Just as soon as I get a drink"

"Of water." Interrupted Nabiki sharply.

Terry sighed at that "Right. Water."

As Terry went to get some of his stuff to spar, a photo fell from his
belongings as he rummaged through them..

Ranma noticed it first and picked it up.

"Whoa! Who's the girl Terry?" He teased. "Someone you're not telling us
about?" Ranma was enjoying that part, he knew Nabiki liked Terry, and if
Terry had another girl, well..

Nabiki, for her part, shot Ranma a look that said he would regret what he
said later, but deep down she desperately wanted to know who the lady was.

Terry replied to Ranma. "That's Lily, she was a very. Good friend." He
said that in a tone that implied more. "She's dead now." He continued in a
way that stated the subject was closed.

Everyone wanted to ask and know more, but Terry's body language was stiff
now, as if he would refuse to say anything else about it.

Nabiki looked at Terry though, and was thinking. "Lily eh? Should be easier
to find out now, with a name attached."

Out loud, she said, "Terry, should you really spar, you seem to be favoring
your other ankle, I don't think that your left ankle is cured yet."

Terry just grinned sheepishly, his body language changing instantly and
replied, "well, it still hurts, but at least the rest of my injuries are
pretty much okay now, right?"

"Hey! I'm not taking on damaged goods!" said Ranma in mock indignation.

"Oh yeah?" said Terry as he lunged towards him playfully.

"Yeah!" said Ranma as he defended himself, while Nabiki and Akane looked
on, giggling all the time.

					-*-

Later that night, after dinner, Terry was on Nabiki's bed, she had refused
to move back in, even when he had offered to sleep on the couch, and was
looking at Lily's photo.

Tomorrow was going to be a big day. Nabiki, after hearing about Akane
mentioning the PE job at the school, had offered to bring Terry to Furinkan
and set up a meeting with the principal, especially since between Akane,
Ranma and herself, she was the only one on relatively good terms with the
said principal.

Terry had changed to shorts and taken off his shoes and jacket. But he
still had his cap on. He was on the futon, looking at a picture. The
picture was of a young woman in her early twenties. She had green hair and
wide eyes and a sophisticated face.

"Lily." Said Terry. "God, how I miss you." His eyes seem to be misty.
"Lily, I don't know what I'm doing." He shook his head slowly. "I'm so
sorry."

Then there was a gust of wind. Terry looked up quickly. His instincts told
him he wasn't alone. "... Lily?" It WAS Lily. She was standing there,
right in front of him.

"You still think about me Terry?" She asked.

"Every moment of my life Lily." He answered.

"Terry, you must learn to forgive yourself, it wasn't your fault what
happened to me."

"But I could have saved you! Or at the very least died with you!"

"Terry, please. It wasn't your fault. My time with you may have been short,
but they were the happiest moments of my life." She said. "YOU enabled me
to truly live Terry, you freed me from a gilded cage."

"Lily.."

"Terry, I don't want you to ruin your whole life just thinking about me. I
can sense your feelings for Nabiki, don't waste them, please."

"Lily..."

"Terry, please remember what I said, and remember I love you." she said As
she dissipated.

Terry reached for her. " Lily!!!!!!"

Terry woke up, clutching the picture to his chest. He was breathing heavily
and sweating. Evidently he had fallen asleep while he was looking at her
picture. "Lily." He said. He heard a noise. Someone was on the roof.

" A prowler?" He thought, "well I'll deal with him." He got off the bed
and placed the picture back in his wallet. With caution he slipped out,
ready to defend the dojo from thieves and hooligans with his life if
necessary.

				       	-*-

(Kasumi's room) Nabiki is having a restless sleep. She is tossing and
turning on her futon. Then she suddenly wakes up, blinking her eyes she
says: "What time is it?" Looking at the clock on the wall, she finds out
its 2 A.M. With that she tries to go back to sleep.

					-*-

On the roof of the dojo, there is a black figure on the roof. It was the
same black figure that had been observing the dojo earlier. The figure was
wearing a tight, black leotard and had long black hair. It's Kodachi, also
known as the Black Rose.

She had waited in the shadows until everyone had fallen asleep before
proceeding with her plan. "Now Ranma-sama will be mine!" She thought to
herself as she headed towards Ranma's room.

Terry saw the figure. The shadows hid the figure's shape and face but he
could sense some movement on the roof and heard some noise. "No doubt about
it. A prowler!" He thought as he readied himself for battle.
					-*-
Nabiki couldn't fall back to sleep. She kept tossing and turning and
putting her pillow over her face to try and induce sleep, but nothing was
working. Something was bothering her. But what?

She suddenly bolted up from her bed. "Of course!" she realized. "I never
bothered to thank Terry for saving me!" Glancing at her clock she saw again
how late it was. " I'll never get anymore sleep if I don't go tell him
thanks." She thought. "He's probably sleeping now, oh well, what's the harm
in trying?" Her decision made, Nabiki got off the futon and went out the
door, careful not to wake Kasumi.

					-*-

Terry Bogard tensed, then jumped on to the roof. Landing carefully so as to
avoid pressure on his left ankle, which was still sore, he called out:
"Freeze prowler!" The figure stiffened. "What are you doing here at this
time of the night?" Terry demanded of the figure. The figure didn't reply,
instead it threw something at Terry.

Terry quickly built up his chi and executed his special burn knuckle( the
one where his whole body goes forward with his fist outstretched.) "Burn
Knuckle!" He shot forward, chi enveloping his right fist. His fist hit the
projectile from the figure, destroying it.

Then Terry realized what it was he had destroyed. "Roses!?" He thought
incredulously. As he destroyed them, he noticed that there was a lot of
powder swirling all around him. "What the..." he said, just as the energy
of his fist struck the figure, sending it off the roof and down towards the
ground head first. He heard a feminine "Oh!" and realized that the figure
was a girl.

The Lone wolf quickly jumped off the roof and caught the girl, holding her
unconscious form to his chest. Then he flipped and prepared to land. "Okay,
got the girl, now I just have to make sure I land on my right....

what the?! %$#@$%!!! I can't move!" He thought. "It must have been that
$%@#$@# powder! Oh $%%#!!" as he saw the ground rush towards him.

Terry's LEFT foot was still outstretched. He was gonna land HARD on his
left foot.

<<<THUD!>>>

 Touchdown.

Terry couldn't talk or shout due to the effects of the paralysis powder
but if he couldthis is probably what he would have said, or to be more
exact, would have shouted:

"AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!"

					-*-

Nabiki heard some noise on the roof, and grew concerned. She stepped out
of the house and took a look at the roof, then she stopped. She saw Terry,
who was identifiable because of the red cap that he ALWAYS wears, and some
girl on top of him! He was clutching the girl to his chest, and he was on
his back in the Tendo yard. She couldn't clearly see the girl, except that
she was scantily clad. Eyes watering she turned around and ran back inside.

-*-

Terry Bogard was on his back. He was in pain. He had landed with all his
weight plus the girl's weight on his left leg. Let's not even think about
the fact that he had jumped off a roof. And he couldn't even move, except
to breathe.

He thought that he was saved when somebody from the house had come out. He
couldn't see who it was, but he thought it was a girl. But whoever it was
had taken one look at the situation he was in and had promptly ran back
into the house.

He was now stuck outside, on the Tendo yard wearing only his boxers and
his cap.

With a leotard- clad girl on top of him.

Just great.

Talk about your compromising positions.

At that moment Kodachi recovered from the blow she had received and woke
up. Realizing that she was in the arms of a muscular man she quickly got a
flashlight from somewhere to look at the man's face.

What she saw was a dream! This man was extremely handsome! Even better
looking than Ranma! And from the feel of things, more muscled and stronger
too! Kodachi tries to escape from his grip but is unable to, evidently ,
whoever this fellow is... he was VERY strong to be able to hold on to her.
"He must be in love with me!" Kodachi's warped mind concluded. "Why else
would he hold on to me so tightly?"

Kodachi then snuggles up to the handsome blonde gaijin and says: "Ah,
noble warrior! To hold on to me as if we were lovers! It is a pity that I
have already pledged my love to another!"

Terry upon hearing this thinks "Thank God!"

"But you are so strong and handsome that I am willing to love you both!"

Terry shudders, or he would have if he had been able to move. "Somebody up
there has a very weird sense of humor." He thought with despair as he felt
the girl snuggle up to him. "It's going to be a loooonnnngggg night."

Kodachi loved the feel of the gaijin's arms holding her. (Not that Terry
could do anything about it.) All thoughts of her original plan concerning
Ranma was gone. As she snuggled up some more, she thought to herself: "If
my brother Kuno can have two loves, then why not I as well?" It never
occurred to Kodachi to wonder why the gaijin who was in love with her never
bothered to say anything to her.

					-*-

(Inside the house) Nabiki ran back to Kasumi's room. She was angry at
Terry, no, not just at Terry but at herself too. How could she have been
so stupid to fall for the heroic savior act! Terry was nothing more but a
two-bit playboy! " I hate him!!!" she thought as she threw herself on her
futon. Sobbing her heart out quietly, Nabiki kept thinking: "I hate him, I
hate him, I hate him!!!!" After a few minutes of crying into her pillow,
she tried to think more clearly. "Never again." she vowed to herself.
"Never again will I let myself be tricked like that!" With that she lay her
head on her tear-soaked pillow and tried to go to sleep.

Unseen by Nabiki, Kasumi just continued looking at her from bed, watching
over her, before she turned around to the other side of her bed and also
went to sleep.

					-*-

(In the Tendo yard, after a few hours had passed) Kodachi had fallen
asleep, snuggled in Terry's arms. Terry had spent those last few hours
hoping for someone, anyone in the house to come out and get him out of this
ridiculous situation.

 But no one did.

"I can't believe that whoever came out earlier didn't try to help me."
Then thinking the situation over, he realized that whoever it was must have
thought he wanted some privacy.

"Aaarggghhh! I want out!" he thought. " Bad enough that I had to listen to
this girl talk about having two loves and how she was willing to love me
along with Ranma, but my ankle is really hurting! How does Ranma attract
all these girls anyway?"

Then Terry realized that he said the last few words out loud. He could
talk! Well actually... mumble. But if he could mumble a bit, then that
means he can... "YES!"

Terry felt some circulation going on in his body. His fingers were starting
to move. After a few more moments of slow but sure attempts at getting the
rest of his body to move, Terry was able to slowly lay the weirdo girl on
the grass, and carefully got up. Favoring his left ankle, of course.

He was barely able to stand, what with the paralysis and the ankle injury.
"Looks like I may have to go back to Tofu tomorrow." Then looking at the
sky, he realized that it was almost dawn. "Or maybe later today." He
sighed. He had gotten almost no sleep too. "Great" Terry thought to
himself. Then glancing at the sleeping girl in front of him, he wondered:
"What am I gonna do with her? She may be rather pretty but she's WAY too
weird for my taste."

After a bit of contemplation Terry thought: "Or anyone else's taste at
that."

Kodachi woke up, realizing that she wasn't snuggled to her gaijin-sama
anymore, she sprang up and got a baton out. Then she saw Terry.
"Gaijin-sama!" she cried out and jumped towards him, arms outstretched for
a hug.

Terry, showing great dexterity, despite the ankle, evaded the hug and said:
"Hey I don't know who you are, but I am not in love with you! Understand?"
At this, Kodachi froze. Then relaxed a bit and said: "of course I
understand my darling!"

Terry sighed in relief. The word darling not registering with his fatigued
mind.

Kodachi continued: "I understand, it is because I told you about my other
love. Worry not, for I love you both equally!"

 Terry facefaults.

Kodachi then looks at her watch, notices the time. "Whoops! I spent too
much time here, I must be off! There is still class tomorrow." she said as
she blew Terry a kiss. "I will return for you my darling Gaijin." With that
she leaps away, leaving black rose petals swirling in the light breeze.

Terry blinks. "Not only weird, but thick too." He mutters to himself as he
wondered why he facefaulted, he never did that before. But somehow... it
felt natural. Oh well. "May as well see if I can get anymore sleep, I still
have to go to school with the others tomorrow." The Lone Wolf then headed
towards the dojo slowly. Limping.
