Yawn. This sort of thing has been overused so much that it fails to
evoke a laugh -- at least from me.

An overused cliche by far. For a moment, though, I thought you were
going to put a new spin on it - say, Akane cooked up the Overfiend and
set it loose on her rivals.
I wasn't trying to write a classic, I was just making a silly little
sidestory. Notably to illustrate how I'm hoping omakes will be
handled on Ultra (IE, not impacting on plot, essentially written for
fun). It took a half hour and was pretty fun to do , and I figured
I'd share it with the FFML as well as the website.
Are we still living in an age where disclaimers declaring/decrying
quality are required? I really hate doing that, because an author
shouldn't have to step on their own work or apologize in advance just
to lower the expectations of others to comfortably safe levels...
(see also my liner notes at the bottom of 'The Ends'.)
Besides, folks, look at the original source material for said omake. Of
-course- it's a silly farce; it's intended to be a non-continuity story
commenting on events in what amounts to a gigantic professional
wrestling organization. You don't watch WCW or WWF stuff to find refined
themes, you watch it because it's ludicrously stupid. (Well, so I would
assume. I don't watch it. ^_^)
