Nope. This *is* canon, that Misato is 29 in the Series, as is Ritsuko.
She was fourteen when the Second Impact occured.
If Shinji=Misato, then he would naturally be
the same age she was in the series. And seeing as how in the year 2000, Misato
couldn't have been older than ten (look at how little she is in the
flashbacks.......) and that she was in freshman year college in 2008, that
places her 2015-16 age at roughly twenty-five.
Of course, them being closer in age would make it even MORE unacceptable,
but......
