*Takes a deep breath of the morning air* Ahhh, good day to you
all, it has been a time and a half since last I have seen you. I see
that Traveller Norris has reposted my fanfiction, which is good since I
am finishing episode 4 in the next week or so.
Right now, however, I would like to highlight some of the
purposes of why I am writing these stories, and a bit about where they
might lead.
Many of you have noted.. some with disdain.. that I put a lot of
description and thought provoking imagery and events in my stories.
Some have said that they are somewhat bloated with all the descriptive
text and such. Considering my highly literative nature, it is only my
natural style that causes me to be so intense and indepth. In Layman's
terms, I like details. :)
Many people have likened my stories to a self insertion, with
the character hiroshi. I would like to verifiably deny this fact, since
Hiroshi is not exactly like I am. In truth, all of the characters which
I have made are a form of self insertion, since each character takes a
different part of me to relate to, etc.
Not meaning that all of the characters are me, only that I must
be able to feel that I am in part them in order to portray them
effectively. Hiroshi is a portrayal of the thoughtful dreamer that has
often in the past influenced the world in some significant way, whether
it be by simple societal standards in the area, or far reaching effects
such as Da Vinci, and Marx.
Daisuke is fashioned after the harsh realists of the world, all
logic and mechanical thought... yet still human in the fundamental
respects. Daisuke is also a special story, that has touched upon the
cruel reality of child abuse, and the effects it has on a family. I
have been praised several times for my realistic portrayal of this
particular thing.
Another thought that many people have commented on that does
bother me in a limited fashion is how my fiction is "A Melding" of other
fictions. I do not think of it as such. I perceive the fiction as
whole in my mind, it is my job to complete the transition from there
onto the paper. In my mind, it is nowhere near some of the fictions
that were mentioned. Of course, those who have spoken with me on ICQ
will note afterwards that what I intend is nowhere near a fusion of
several different works... but that it will be a masterpiece of plot
twists and unexpected surprises. I hope.
I would like to note also of the reason WHY I am writing this
fiction the way it is written. Serious... with humorous on the side and
reality in the middle. This fiction is not so much a Ranma fanfic as it
is a touching upon humanity. That is what it is meant to convey, it is
meant to connect fundamentally with the reader, to bring them with open
arms into the story, and to cause them to feel wholely and perfectly the
emotions that run thick throughout the work.
It is a tribute to the basic flaws of our everyday selves, it is
a salute to the fragility of the human soul and how easily we are moved
by our emotions, it is a epic that spans the life of not ONLY Ranma..
this fic is not about ranma, it never was. This fiction spans the lives
of all the people around Ranma, and how he effects them all. How they
are ineffably changed by his actions, and how they grow into a semblance
of adulthood.
This is what my fiction is about... and while there may be the
occassional spelling errors, or perhaps slight dash of OOCness to those
who are burdened with picking these things out, this is not why you
should read it.
You should read it, not because I say so nor because others say
so, but because in a sense it may touch you.. and teach you a little
about the world. Maybe open your eyes and cause you to blink at how
bright the sun is, never knowing how beautiful the day might have been
with your eyes closed.
I hope that with this message I have somehow enlightened you all
with information that has been speculated on for a good while... and I
hope that perhaps I have persuaded a lucky few to go and see my humble
work. Perhaps it might become a relic in the library of classic
fiction, only I could pray. And if you do go to view my work, be sure
to sign and leave a short message in the guestbook... to show your
appreciation of any sort of moving inspiration that my story could have
produced in you.
And with that, dear travellers, I will leave you to your
thoughts. Adieu, and I pray that you ask any questions of me you think
appropriate.
