Can we take this a little further and assume some other character
changes;
If Shinji = Misato and Misato = Shinji that would mean...
Commander Gendo Ikari = Commander ??? Katsuragi
The Katsuragi Expedition = The Ikari Expedition
Ritsuko = Asuka
Asuka = Ritsuko
Kaji = Rei
Rei = Kaji
Maya = Hikari
Hikari = Maya
Kensuke = Makoto
Makoto = Kensuke
Toji = Shigeru
Shigeru = Toji
etc., etc.

Just be careful about sleeping arrangements?  It *couldn't* be
acceptable for Misato (14yrs) to room with Shinji (29yrs).
