Subject: [FFML]The Orbs

Glowing orbs orbited the circumference of a circle shaped room. There
was
no light except for the orb's warm glow. Some orbs were as low as the
ground and some as high as the ceiling.

"Look at that!" a girl pointed out.

A-kun: [looks, turns away, blushing brightly, coughing politely and
staring at his feet] Ummm, er, ummm, uh, well, huh, uh, umm...

As usual, she and her brother came
into the dark room to watch the orbs circle the room. It gave them a
chance to unwind from the day.

A-kun: Yep, yep...it's doing nicely....uh-huh.....yeah....AH! This is
where the Day got caught in the Meat Grinder...

"What's going on? Are they broken?" asked her brother.

Upon closer inspection, some of the orbs were flickering.

A-kun: [brother, touching one] *BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT* UGH!
*THUD*

As if they were
in danger of going out. The ones at the top seemed the darkest.

"I'll get grandpa!" the girl said. Her brother stayed, saying a silent
prayer for the flickering orbs.

Soon after, his sister came back, tugging on their grandfather's
sleeve.

"See grandfather." the girl said, pointing to the flickering orbs.

"Oh that." the grandfather said, "Don't worry."

A-kun: [Grandfather] That just means the strudels are done...

The old man got out a ladder which had been placed in a corner of the
room. He opened it up in the middle of the room.

"Hold this steady for me will you?" he asked his grandchildren.

A-kun: [Grandfather] WHOOOOAAAAAA....WWHOOOOOOOAAA!!! I SAID STEADY!

The old man climbed the ladder to the top. He was now level with the
highest set of orbs. Taking out a wrench, he tapped one of the
flickering
orbs as they passed by.

  *FRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP*

A-kun: [Grandfather, waving hand in front of his face] Whoooo! This
thing sure do stink.

The orb lit up to it's usual brightness.

"What was wrong with it grandpa?" the boy asked.

The old man didn't answer until he was back on the ground.

"Oh, they just needed some looking after. It's okay. Everything will be
fine." he answered.

A-kun: [Grandfather] But should they ever go out, they'll suck your
souls in too!

Got to thinking last night about all the excellent stories I've read
since
coming to the FFML and I wondered. Where had all these authors
disappeared
to? Authors like Chris Davies, Chris Angel, Lurker, Ron Barba, Eyrie,
etc
and so forth. They write such wonderful pieces of fiction for our
eyes and
imaginations and then...*poof* O_O Do they all suddenly gain a life
after
writing a great work(much like Dwarves in Forgotten Realms) or is it
me?
<shrug>

A-kun: I said it before and I'll say it again. [old cryptic voice] Where
they have gone, none may follow....lest they be sued for plagarism....

If we think about this from what we've all learned from anime,
something
big's about to happen.

A-kun: DUCK AND COVER!!!! *BA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM* Uh-oh,
looks like France is gone again...

Mousse looked around at the crowd watching the fight.
<So it came down to this huh?> he mused.
Ranma was on the ground, still reeling from the hits he had taken.
"This is the end Saotome." Mousse said, holding his sword above
his
opponent's throat.
