I don't write all that much, and when I do it's usually Ranma, but this idea
just wouldn't let me go until I wrote it down. I've got an outline for the
rest of the story but it doesn't look to be finished anytime soon. So I
thought I'd post what I had and see if it got a response; and if it's worth
continuing.

Standard disclaimer, none of these characters are mine except Alexis;
they're copyrighted so don't sue me, I have no money.

"Do you think you can hurry up already?"
"I can let you do this if you're in such a rush, you know!"
"Okay, okay... You're really wound up tight about this aren't you?"
"And why shouldn't I be!! We're hacking into a closed computer system,
trying to access restricted files on it, and freezing my rear off in the
process! I think I have a right to be nervous."
  "Nervous, yes; paranoid, no."
"'It's not paranoia if they are out to get you', I believe the phrase
goes."
"How can they be, no-one even knows that we're here..."
At that point the screen started blinking red and alarms sounded
throughout the compound:

    [Intruder Detected]
    [Security Respond To Section 20f4]
[Use Any Neccessary Force To Detain]

"As you were so illustriously saying.."
"Damn, it's found us! Let's get the hell out of here!"
With that the two figures took off into the night.

Staggering into an apartment the pair collapsed onto the couch, which
protested loudly at the mistreatment. Alexis glanced at her red-haired
companion, then broke into a grin.
"I haven't had that kind of excitement in a long while. What do you say we
try another go at it tomorrow, eh?"
Nene just buried her face in her hands and groaned.
"Why did I let you talk me into this..."
The raven-haired beauty laughed softly, then drew her into an embrace.
"It's because you love me so much."

A Bubblegum Crisis/Alterniverse Story

"This is Quincy. Has there been any lead into who tripped that alarm on
the compound yet?"
"No sir, there was no trace other than the terminal entry that was used.
Whoever it was knew what they were doing."
"How far into the system were they able to get?"
"Only surface programming, everything pertaining to the project is under
the highest level security, which was untouched."
"Keep searching. I'll expect a complete report by tomorrow."
  "Yes sir."

With the coming of dawn in Mega-Tokyo, a thin strip of sunlight manages to
creep through the window in Nene's apartment. Sliding across the floor, it
crawled up the side of the bed and settle over the face of a certain
(currently unconscious) AD police officer. As usual, the added warmth and
brightness slowly roused her to the point where she could sense the body
curled up next to her, still out of it.
'What are we going to do? We can't keep hiding this, someone is sure to
find out.' Looks at Alexis' sleeping features and can't help but smile. 'I
really do love her. Who would have believed it? Priss would certainly flip
if she found out.' At this she frowned slightly as the pressure of the
thought weighs down on her heart. 'They're going to find out eventually,
wouldn't it be better to tell them, than to have them discover on their
own?' Brushing Alexis' hair out of her face, she feels her heart lift at
the peaceful expression on the other woman's face. 'Enough time to think
about this later. I'm too tired right now.' With that last thought, she
wrapped her arms around Alexis and went back to sleep.

  "What's wrong?"
With a start, Nene looked up at Alexis's worried face and answered "What?"
"There's obviously something going on, you've been distracted the whole
time we've been here. I just wanted to know what's so wrong that you feel
you can't tell me."
Sighing, Nene looked back down at her cup of tea she had been staring into
for the last few minutes. "I've been thinking, that's all."
"That's all? I think that I know you a little better than that. Now tell
me what's wrong, I really want to help..."
After a moment, she answered, "There's not much to do about it. I'm
trying to figure out how to tell some friends of mine about.... well, us,"
she said, gesturing to Alexis and herself. "It's just something I'm not
sure on how they're going to react."
"Well, do you think they'd reject you for it?"
"No! It's just that we're close, and it would probably be one hell of a
shock to them," she said. 'Not to mention Sylia would dress me down about
the regulations and all that. Not that it ever stopped Linna, anyway.'
"Well think of it this way, if they faint you can always go rummaging
through their pockets for change!"
  "Alexis...."

"'Hey, guess what? I'm getting hitched!' 'Who's the lucky man?' 'Well,
that's what I wanted to tell you about...'"
"No, that's never going to work. Agghhhh! WHAT am I going to say? This
is just too weird! I haven't been this nervous since I brought a date home
to dad. Scratch that, this is worse. I'm going to go nuts just thinking
about it. That's what I'm gonna do, not think about it."
Nene stopped pacing and took a deep breath before letting it out slowly.
Twice. After trying this several dozen times (and not helping any), she
just gave in to nervousness and started pacing again.
"Alright, I'll just do this right out, then. 'Sylia, I've been secretly
seeing someone for the past two years, we're very serious and I felt that
you deserved to know about it.' There, that isn't to bad. 'The reason I've
kept it a secret is that is that I wasn't sure how anyone would react to
her...' Well, that could give me a few holdups, but the direct approach has
it's benefits. Admittedly not many, but it's far better than if she found
out on her own Oh, what am I saying; this is not going to be fun no matter
how I say it!"
Finally giving up on trying to calm down, she walks over to the door and
knocks.
"God, I hope I know what I'm doing".

So what do you think? Is it worth it or should it be consigned to the
recycling bin?
