Chapter 1: Old memories come back again.
========================================================
Shiris sighed as she leaned back, mumbling a bit. "It's soooo.. boring
here!"
Orson glanced aside slowly, shifting his position upon the thick wooden
branch ever so slightly as he gazed upon his fiery-haired female companion.
Deep brown eyes then looked back forward to the road, as he reminded his
companion yet again, "We promised to keep watch over here for a while.
This is the last day."
Shiris sat up in a hurry, almost glaring, her lithe form very easily keeping
balance upon the tree branch. "But nothing's happened! If it weren't for the
amount of money that old man payed us, I would've left long ago."
Orson silently ignored her ranting as he quietly watched the street. Then
he noted something. "Shiris, look."
Shiris quickly hushed and quickly darted her head towards the road, her
deep red eyes scanning the area, until she heard... It was the sound of gal-
loping hoofbeats. She looked up slightly, and layed absolutely still, her
eyes
taking in the next few images. There were three riders. The first one was a
man in fine, but not fancy clothing, and wearing leather armor over it, he was
also carrying, noticably, one too many pouches. The other... a man riding a
strange black stallion, wearing bronzed armor, and a black and silver cloak.
Shiris then blinked a moment, and narrowed her eyes, studying the man further,
he was obviously chasing the now apparent thief... but she had seen that
haggard face somewhere.... Wait a moment, she thought, what's that on his
cheek?
It took only a moment for it to hit her.
"It's the thief we were told to watch for," Orson murmured quietly.
"And Margon is ahead of us in getting him!" Shiris growled, quickly leaping
to prepare herself for a pounce.
"Shiris?" Orson turned slightly, noticing she was gone, but merely sighed
and prepared himself, as well, his large hand slowly reaching back for the
two-
handed sword that had sheathed there.
"Shit! Don't you ever give up?!" The thief was almost there! Damn that
blasted mercenary for showing up!
The man in bronze armor merely smirked. His cool voice rang out chal-
langingly. "Not particularly. Now turn around and fight, coward."
"I'd rather be a coward than end up getting diced by a guy like you!" the
Thief called back. He digged his heels deeply into the horse, who in turn
nearly went spastic, and reared back, before going forward at an even faster
pace. He looked back, and breathed a sigh of relief. Then forward again,
grinning as he saw the forest path ahead. "That old man's money's going to
be mine!" the the thief murmured. He pressed his mount forward harder, but
something flashed infront of him and his horse. The horse cried out as it
reared back in attempt to kick away the firey figure, and the thief yelled out
colofully as he fell back onto the ground, groaning. "Shit!"
Shiris quickly moved away from the horse and drew her rapier slowly,
walking towards the fallen man. A smirk played on her lips as she brushed
back her front bangs arrogantly with a free hand and looked down to him. "Not
so tough right now, are ya big guy?"
The thief's eyes flared in rage, secretly, four daggers slipped between his
fingers in one hand, and he reared his arm back. "You little bi--Urk!" The
thief
stopped montarily, and looked up as he saw the tall Berserker standing calmly
over him, with a huge blade in his hand, the tip at his throat. The thief
cursed
further, and dropped his knife, slowly raising his arms."
Shiris smirked as she leaned over and picked up a few pouches from
the thief's belt, hefting them. "My my... I imagine this could be what we're
rewarded for turning in a big-time pickpocket like you."
"That's my money you have!" a voice bellowed out.
Shiris gritted her teeth, knowing that voice well, and murmred. "Not
now...."
Sighing, she quickly tossed her head up and glared forward at the big man in
his
majestic black stallion. "Margon... it's been a while..."
