Um... just curious, but does this mean I get to expect a public Rant

fraction of an 800 page fic, you sure seem to have a lot of strong
feelings about it.  Or me, I'm not sure which.  But apparently your
feelings are strong enough that you feel the need to share them with

800 page fic?????? Whoa.. I didn't realize it was that big.. only took 
me a couple days to read it in its entirety, and it usually takes me a 
week to read a Michael Crichton or Stephen King book, which around only 
about 400 pages at times.. :)

I don't think I'd mind as much if you'd actually read the whole fic, 

and

then hated it.  At least then, yours would be an informed opinion.  But
just griping because the fic is liked by a lot of people...  Hm.

The whole "passing the torch" stuff is nonsense.  I never had a torch 

to

begin with.  I just wrote a fic, just like every other author on this
list, and I'll continue to write fics for a long time after HoI is
finished.  This isn't an Olympic event.  We're here to share stories,
not compete against each other.

EXACTLY.. Who's to say what stories are good and bad? I personally 
HIGHLY enjoy Hearts of Ice, which is why I started up the audioplay, and 
I haven't read many other fics, some other ones I enjoyed are hated by 
some, but loved by others.. I forget who wrote it, but 'Quantam 
Destinies' were one of my favorites, and 'Ranma Vs. Predator' by Benares 
was good too, Good ones will come and go, some will be forgotten, some 
will be remembers, but which fics will be remembered and who they are 
remembered by makes no difference.

Yes, I love Hearts of Ice, but I'm not saying its the bext fic out 
there, how would I know? I just started reading fanfics heavily just 
this past month.. There are probably better ones out there, and there 
are most certainly worse ones out there... :)

Who said it was?  I didn't hear any claims to that end.  As for the
"next great story," there are a *lot* of great stories out there, most
better than HoI, in my opinion, that are being written now.  The idea
that there can be a "successor" to Hearts of Ice seems silly to me,
because as I see it, Hearts of Ice never ruled anything.  Fanfiction
isn't a dictatorship, or even a monarchy.

True, true.. It's not the writer of the best fic gets free donuts, 
because who's to say what the best fic is? I can only say what I believe 
to be the best in _MY_ opinion is, whereas a friend of mine read the 
first few chapters of a fic I highly enjoyed, and then deleted the 
rest..

But I guess the essence of my response to your rant is this:  Yes, you
have mentioned on more than one occasion that the first chapter of HoI
didn't grab you.  That's fine with me, I don't care whether you ever
read the fic or not.  But please stop griping about HoI's popularity,
since that is something that is completely out of your control, or 

mine.

Well, HoI chapter one didn't grab me at first either, however, chapter 
two and on got me by the collar.. ;)
