Sailor Moon D
A FanFic by Shakudo Seikgi (shakudo@hotmail.com)

Warning: These characters are not mine. In fact, nothing here is
original, not even the jokes. All of the characters that have appeared
in the North American release of Sailor Moon are property of DIC,
Kodansha, Naoko Takeuchi, and any other names the lawyers can come up
with. If you feel I'm misrepresenting those characters, well then, I
guess I'm doing my job.

Note: This FanFic relies on the North American names ONLY. Sailor Moon
will be named Serena, not Usagi, not Bunny (in case your living under a
rock and only read MIXXzine, or you live in Mexico), and not anything
else. Sailor Mars is Raye (even though I prefer the R-E-I spelling).
Sailor Mercury is Amy (which has a meaning completely different from
"Ami," check your local library to see what I mean). Sailor Venus is
Mina (which is not TOO far from Minako, they've used both types in
Japan). Sailor Jupiter is Lita (which is way, way, WAY far from Makoto,
who the hell came up with THAT one?). The Japanese character
se-ra-chibimu-n is not represented, but Reenie is (and that's the
CORRECT spelling, not Rini, Riny, Rene, or Reenee). How is this
possible? You'll see. The characters of Sailors Saturn, Uranus (actually
pronounced er-ANN-is; yer-anus exists ONLY because someone was trying to
be funny, YER-in-os because someone was uncomprehendingly offended, and
U-RA-NUU-SU because the Japanese think it's cute to muddle with English
instead of just speaking it (well I think it's cute too)<sound of people
falling over>), Neptune, and Pluto have no English names because a)
their parts aren't even that big in Japan, and 2) I'm too lazy to think
of any names. The Sailor Starlights aren't represented here because
they've had their own series and now it's my turn. Tuxedo Mask is Tuxedo
Mask even if he's Darien. Melvin, Molly, Chad, Andrew, Sammy, Mom, Dad,
and Grampa will be used if these characters ever make an appearance or
unless I decide to pick 'em off one by one with a sniper rifle. The
group will be called the Sailor Soldiers because that name was used in
the most recent release.

Warning: This FanFic has been rated "R" by the guidelines set out by a
panel of old farts too old to get an erection and too senile to know
what to do with one (I pushed for NC-17 but then I realised that my Fic
is NOT titled Sailor Showgirls)(and for those of you who are wondering,
NO, I will not write a Sailor Lemon (Yet.)).

If you are offended by coarse language, mature situations, extraneous
violence, flashy pyrotechnics or the misuse of a bunny, then shoot
yourself in the head or never turn away from the Teletubbies because you
obviously don't know what teenagers really are.

This FanFic is not recommended for children, adults, seniors, people
with heart conditions, pregnant women, pregnant mothers, pregnant
smokers, any smoker, any smoker with a heart condition, illiterates, the
blind, the hard-of-hearing, the not-so-hard-of-hearing, paraplegics,

your ass with the printout.

If anything herein this or future documents makes you consider filing a
lawsuit, I am only kidding. Ha, ha.

Above all, do not lick a wall socket. Those of you who have know what
I'm talking about.

-S----------M----------D-

A heart beating. My heart beating. Blood flowing. My blood flowing
through my veins. A spark. The spark of my consciousness.

They are all things that let me know I am alive. Yet they are all things
which can be easily lost. Losing your mind. Losing blood. Losing heart.

Yet, losses can be healed, covered up, as if they were never there,
forgotten.

Forgotten. Things can only be forgotten for only so long before they
rise again. Rise from the emptiness at the site of the loss. Rise
because they need to be heard.

Heard. A voice is heard. A voice within myself. My voice. Am I calling
to myself?

No. It is another calling me. Calling me in a voice so like my own it is
indistinguishable from my own. The voice, my voice or another's-my voice
and another's-my voice with another's, however the composition, calls to
me. Asks me, tells me, pleads with me to find it, to set it free. Set it
free so it may know what is to be, to just be. But why me? Where? How
can I help you? Who are you?

"I am . . . "

-S----------M----------D-

Raye rose with a start. She threw off the top sheet of her futon and
clutched her ankles as she tried to calm her breathing. The initial
shock passing, she straightened out again and lay on her back, staring
at the corner of the ceiling for a few minutes. Finally, she yawned and
got up.

"Man, what a weird dream," she said tugging on her white nightshirt. It
was damp from sweat but not clingy.

She could hear her crows outside, a long, scared cry arcing through the
morning air.

Ichi. "The Path of the Priestess."

Hi! You're just in time. I was on my way to the cafeteria to see Lita
and Amy between classes. What? What is this place, you say? Where have
you been, a time warp? What's the last thing you remember?

*The wedding?* Geez, are you out of it. This is Tokyo University--but
everyone around here calls it Todai--and Lita and Amy are my fellow
daigakusei. Stop laughing, I'm not joking! I am a university student!
Does this look like proper high school attire?

Okay, I will show you. The caf's around the next corner; you'll see.

-S----------M----------D-

Serena came into the caf in her usual manner, hearts in her eyes and
tripping over a trash can. Never mind that he wedding was two years ago,
with her imagination she was always in a honeymoon.

"I can't help it, it has my name written all over it," she said. "Owie."

"Need some help, Serena?" Lita was getting up from their usual table.
One thing about university, it's usually usual.

"No thanks," she grunted, getting up. "I'm fine."

"I keep telling the school counsel that they should re-do the school
layout with you in mind," Amy said with a light expression.

"And I'm sure Mina would listen to you," Serena said sarcastically. She
sat across from her friends at the table, completing the triangle.

Serena wore the only clean clothes she had left since her mom said she
was old enough to do laundry herself, a pink T-shirt and her old
coveralls with the picture of the bunny on the front. Lita wore the same
pair of blue jeans she does, like, everyday and a green silk dress
shirt. Amy was the raciest among them, wearing a blue bikini top
underneath a white dress shirt with only the last two buttons done up
tucked into a pair of light blue shorts. To stay cool, she said.
Right..., Serena thought.

"Where is Mina, anyway?" she asked.

"She's overseeing the construction of the new student centre," Lita
said. "She actually managed to get people to volunteer to paint
everything."

Cut to Mina in a short Chinese dress and construction helmet holding a
megaphone.

"Now mush! Or none of you get to date me!"

"Hai, Mina-sama," droned the collection of boys.

Mina started to cackle maniacally, truly worthy of Naga the Serpent, but
we cut back to the caf.

"I still can't believe were all students here," Serena intoned.

"No," Lita said, "I can't believe *you're* a student here, Serena."

Serena tugged on her eyelid and razzed the camera.

"It's too bad that summer break is next week," Amy said. "I'm going to
miss my professors."

Serena and clutched each other's hands and they gave Amy tear-filled
looks.

"Don't worry Amy," Serena said with a blubber. "We'll be your support
group."

"We won't let you die!" Lita bawled.

A couple students looked over at the commotion causing Amy to blush.

Lita grabbed a passing student. "Please won't you donate to our worthy
cause?"

"Nani?" he asked.

"Okay then, will you go out with me?"

"Uh," he stammered, "I gotta go."

She and Serena watched him run off while laughing up a storm. They
looked over to Amy to see her blushing even harder.

"I didn't mean to make it sound like that," she said.

Serena blinked. She started giggling a little again and tried waving it
off. "Oh, Amy. Lighten up. We're just having a little fun."

"Yeah, don't worry about us," Lita said.

"But seriously," Serena continued. "How can you say you're going to miss
*teachers*. My classes are barely an hour long and I still get bored."

"This coming from the person who couldn't stop playing Sailor V all
night at the last sleepover," Amy said. She high-fived Lita.

"Comeback," the taller girl said.

Serena noticed that there was still one of the group unaccounted for.
Ignoring the last statement, she asked, "Hey, where's Raye?"

"She's still in her religion class," Amy informed her. "It lasts two
hours."

"Two hours?" Serena screamed. "How does she handle it?"

Lita and Amy exchanged nervous smiles.

"How are we gonna handle *her?*" Lita muttered.

"Don't ask me," Amy muttered back. "When it comes to Serena, those
questions I can't answer."

They hung their heads while Serena continued to exasperate.

15:54

"That's all for today class," the professor said. "Have a good weekend
and I'll you in four weeks."

"Sensei?" Raye asked as the other students were leaving for much
deserved pub parties and road trips.

"Yes, Hino-kun," he said folding the flap over his briefcase.

"Do you believe that God can communicate with us through our dreams? I
mean, talk to us directly?"

"God communicates with His children in many different ways."

"Even as a figure bathed in fire?"

The breath that Komohote had been inhaling stuck his as pondered her
words. "Well, it's not exactly a burning bush but I suppose so."

"It can't be the devil?" she asked, knowing what he was thinking.

"The devil is rarely so subtle," he assured her. "Has one of the
temple-goers been talking to you about that?"

"Iie, it's nothing. Arigat, Sensei," she stumbled.

"You're welcome, Hino-kun," he said following her out of the room. "Have
a good vacation."

"Thank you, Sir. Sayonara."

"Ja na." He turned off to the right. She went left.

<Maybe I'm overanalysing things,> she thought, except her mind kept
tugging at her, trying to make her see what she probably already knew.

Her footfalls echoed hollowly in the empty corridor.

Wait a minute. Empty? This is one of the busiest hallways in Todai. And
it's barely 16:00 in the afternoon.

"Oh no."

She felt a wave of heat dance its way up her back, prompting her pores
to release their coolant. Yet she also developed gooseflesh at the
though of what she would find behind her. She turned her head around
just enough to see a burst of flame fly across her nose.

"Okay, time to run."

She bolted down the hall, barely able to keep ahead of the encroaching
blaze.

"What the fuck is going on?" she asked of no one in particular. So of
course her answer was waiting for her as she rounded the corner.

He stood on the elevated landing of used to be the main staircase, his
figure no more defined than a patch of slightly darker flame writhing
within the burning turmoil. Everywhere she turned there was nothing but
a sea of brimstone stretching to a black horizon. The only parts of this
twisted reality not aflame were herself and a small pathway leading to
the creator--or the product--of this all.

Flames behind her nipped at her ankles singeing her socks. She was
obviously being pressured forward. Every step taken was being filled up
by flame, not allowing her to retreat again. Her heart was ready to beat
its way out of her chest and it only grew harder as she moved closer.

She finally stopped walking when she reached the transformed landing;
the crawling flames stopped pressuring her.

<Transform, of course! Baka!> She was ready to produce the henshin stick
when she noticed it was already being proffered by the outstretched hand
of...whatever it was.

"Kore wa--" Her sentence was cut off as the stick jumped up and hung
between them. The firelight glinted off the gold wings and red orb
attached at the end of the handle.

"~Remember,~" the figure said. Well...not so much said as transmitted
straight into Raye's thoughts.

"What?" The henshin stick lowered so she could see into the face of the
silhouette. Yes, definitely a face, except the more she tried to make
out its features, the more that clarity eluded her. It was like trying
to make sense of the patterns that show up on the backs of her eyelids
as she would try to fall asleep.

"~Come. Use. Remember,~" it echoed again.

"Who are you?"

The sizzle of flames that had been in the background suddenly grew into
a roar. Fearful that she would be engulfed, she tried to let out a
scream.

She crashed into Amy instead.

"Raye," she said as she tried to collect her fallen notes. "Sorry, are
you okay?"

Raye looked around her in bewilderment. Flame had reverted to wall,
magma to tile, and flame-engrossed man to thin air. Students both above
and below kept milling as though nothing were different and indeed, for
them, it probably wasn't.

Amy picked up one of the sheets and did a double take when she saw
Raye's henshin stick lying on the tile. Raye quickly pocketed the tool
before anyone else could see what it was.

<So it did happen somehow,> she thought. <But what does it mean?>

She shook her head to clear it and helped with the collection of the
sheets. "So where are you off to?" she asked trying to act nonchalant.

"Mathematical proofs, first floor," Amy responded pointing up. "It'll
get out at seventeen and I was going to meet back up with the gang then.
Lita and Serena are in the caf if you want to join them."

"Nah. It's okay. I have to get back to the temple for the evening chores
anyway."

"Since when do you have evening chores?"

"Since Grandpa tried to get Chad to perform the morning chores."

Cut to Chad at the shrine who sneezed.

"Did you fall in the river again?" Grandpa asked from inside.

Before Chad could answer, we cut back to the stairs.

"Oh, okay," Amy said. "See you, then. I'll say 'hi' to the others for
you."

"Thanks Amy. Give me a call tomorrow."

"Will do," she said ascending the stairs.

-S----------M----------D-

Mina was shouting various orders from around the perimeter of the
student centre when she saw Raye come out one of the side doors of Main
Building. She pulled the trigger of the megaphone.

"Okay, work's done for the day!" she said. A collective cheer rose from
the crowd of guys expecting their "paycheque."

"But since summer break starts tomorrow, there'll be no dating until we
get back." The crowd fell silent again; they could do nothing but gape
confoundedly as Mina trotted off, tossing her helmet and megaphone aside
and wiggling her toosh.

She caught up with Raye. "How it going, girlfriend," she called out.
Getting no response, she was about to try again when she caught the
faraway look on Raye's face. She toned down the jubilance a notch and
placed a hand on her friend's shoulder. "Are you okay?"

Raye looked up sharply. "Why does everyone keep asking me that?"

Mina backed off. "Woah. White flag. I surrender." She threw her hands
up.

Raye bit down on her lip, then, "Gomen, Mina-chan. It's been a long
day." She looked past Mina at the student centre and the mob leaving
disgustedly. "What wrong, are the peasants revolting?"

Mina looked back. "What, them? Ah, they're pushovers."

"Well, when you wear a dress that short and that tight..." Raye let it
hang. Mina had been the last one to...ahem, develop, and now she was
between Raye and Lita in the height department and had a body that could
surely launch a thousand hentai.

"What about you?" Mina countered. "Denim cut-offs and a tube top? What
does Grandpa hafta say about all that."

"As soon as I got into Todai, Grandpa said he didn't care anymore.
Course, half of me is convinced that he *wants* to see me in these
outfits."

"Ew. And the other half?"

"That he wants to set me up with Chad," Raye said matter-of-factly.

Cut to outside the Hikawa shrine.

"*Ah-choo!*"came from inside.

"Haw!" Chad could be heard. "Now who's clumsy?"

Leaving Chad to his beating, we cut back to the walkway.

Both Mina and Raye glared at the camera.

"Will you cut that out?" Raye asked. [No--Ed.] "This is supposed to be
serious scene." Turning back to Mina she said, "C'mon, let's walk."

"To the shrine?"

"Yeah. I have something I need to talk about and I *gotta* tell somebody
before I go nuts."

"Ah ha. You need a witness."

On the way back, Raye recounted the dream and the recent hallucination.

"Wow," Mina said when she was finally done.

"Sounds crazy doesn't it?"

"Compared to the all the other shit that's happened to us? Hell, no."

Raye scratched her head furiously. "I just wish I knew what it meant."

Granted there was no one saying, "Ask and ye shall receive," but Raye
received nonetheless. She turned her head at the blare of a horn to see
a bullet train pass by about a couple hundred metres away. What she
didn't expect to see was the middle car ablaze and the silhouetted man
staring straight at her soul.

"Do you see that?" she asked Mina. She started to smile.

Mina, however, was confused. She looked in the direction Raye was and
saw only the train. "See what?"

"~Come,~" he echoed. The train disappeared into a tunnel.

"Do you know where the station for that train is?" Raye asked.

"Yeah," Mina said. She thought for a moment then added, "Why?"

"C'mon," Raye said grabbing Mina's arm. "I've got to get ready."

"Ready? Ready for what?"

-S----------M----------D-

As focus moves from Raye and Mina to the whole street to all of Sendai
Hill, Tokyo becomes smaller and smaller. The city melds into the
country, the country into the continent, the continent into the planet.
Soon the planet is just a blip on the radar. Not long after that, Sol
becomes indistinguishable from all the other stars in the Sagittarius
arm.

Now where are we supposed to be? Oh, yes; Gemini arm. Look over there.
See that? Oh of course you don't, you can't. It's a black hole. C'mon,
let's get in closer; don't worry, we can get out later. The speed of
light is a slow trickle compared to the speed of a narrative.

At one point in time, Stephen Hawking surmised that with all the energy
flowing through the universe, matter is created and destroyed on a
continual basis. Well, he was right. Constantly and spontaneously,
enough energy can collect to create two particles, one positively
charged, one negatively. They'll orbit each other for a few nanoseconds
then crash together and be obliterated into energy again.

He went on to say that then, it is a statistical certainty that just as
soon as these two particles are formed, one can get caught in the
gravity well of a black hole and get sucked in while the other flies
off. Well, he was right again, but what he didn't elaborate on is what
happens afterward.

What happens to this particle is that it strikes the surface of the
singularity at such a high speed, that it is obliterated and takes an
atom from the surface with it.

Now when this sun was formed back at the beginnings of time, it lived
it's thirty million-year lifespan in peace and quietly went nova. It was
also a relatively small sun so it didn't make a particularly powerful
black hole, but it was still capable of capturing these exotic
particles. And that's what it's been doing for God know how many
trillions of years.

The reason attention is being called to it now is that something
interesting is about to happen. Enough of the singularity's mass has
almost been diminished to the point where it cannot keep itself
infinitely compressed. The threshold for this event is very exact and
it'll only take three more collisions for that threshold to be breached.

Two more. This is the first time since the *creation of the universe*
that this has ever happened. The results are completely unknown.

One more. The threshold has been reached. The natural repulsive forces
of the nuclei of every single atom remaining are straining against their
gravitational bonds. At this point, the narrative should've switched
back to something more appropriate.

-S----------M----------D-

And so it did.

As the final exotic particle started its downward journey towards it's
final resting place, he smiled. It was not a happy smile, unless
rampaging malevolence was included in his definition of "happy." He
didn't break out into a tooth-filled smile like many other madmen would
in their anticipation because his anticipation was tempered by his
thousand-year wait for this moment. He would've broken out of his prison
long if not for the absence of one particular item: an amazing amount of
energy. But soon, the universe would provide the energy he needed.
Granted, the energy would be used up as infinitely quickly as its
creation leaving him with noting again, but it was acceptable if it
meant he could be free once more.

The particle--though having an infinitesimal mass to begin with--became
geometrically heavier as it sped towards the singularity. Travelling at
over twenty-eight thousand kilometres per second, and still speeding up,
it was barely moving since time kept dilating more and more. It hung
only microns from the surface; it was tiring yet exhilarating at the
same time.

It finally made it.

The explosion could not be measured in megatons. It couldn't be measured
in mega-mega-megatons. The amount of energy spewed forth was second only
to the Big Bang, and only by a small margin at that.

The remaining atoms in the core expelled themselves out faster than the
speed of light being instantaneously obliterated. With no more gravity
pulling it down, the fabric of space-time snapped back to the surface so
quickly it began to rip itself apart.

His smile grew. The barrier to the universe finally breached, he quickly
collected the energy before it could dissipate. He used that energy to
create a portal and firmly planted it in the rapidly healing tear,
giving him a new connection to the universe. It was one point in the
universe yet with his intrinsic power, he could see and access every
other point.

The breach had its own effect as well.

In the first billion-billion-billionth second of the event, the massive
wave of gravitational energy destroyed everything within a thousand
light-year radius leaving nothing, not even itself. In the next instant,
the wave was gone.

When he looked down at the galaxy, it was as if a light had burned out,
leaving a dark spot on the Gemini arm.

He leaned back, exhausted. Not bad for a billion-billion-billionth
second's work. He heard a clapping from above.

"Very good, Chaos-sama," a melodic voice echoed in the main chamber.

Citadel was Chaos' castle, stronghold, and battleground. The focal point
from which the rest of Void extended. The main chamber--set at the
highest point of the tallest spire of Citadel--was an octagonal room,
each wall 40 feet across. Each wall in turn tapered upwards, finally
meeting at a point 300 feet up. On each wall, intricately wrought
stained-glass windows were set into the cool blue marble. The windows
didn't look out to anywhere, the perpetual night outside Citadel made
having windows unnecessary. These iron and glass panels served as
doorways to other, smaller dimensions inside Void, where his minions
waited until called upon or deciding to come on their own.

He looked up at the origin of the clapping. One of the windows
illuminated and a figure stepped out, an aura sizzling around the
outline of his body on the glass as he stepped through. He stepped onto
thin air and started to float down as the window behind him blackened
until it was no more than a flat slate. He continued to clap slowly
until he landed on the floor in front of his master, his boots softly
clicking on the speckled, black marble tile.

He bowed to Chaos, one arm at his side, the other perpendicular across
his chest. Straightening up he tossed his cape back. He was almost a
complete antithesis to Chaos. He wore a white uniform made of cotton,
press until the pleats were as sharp as knives where Chaos wore black
armour. His hair, short and perfectly coifed so as to make full use of
the blond curls where Chaos' was coal black and held in a loose
ponytail. The look in his radiant blue eyes were that of playful
insanity where Chaos' were dark cinders and straightforwardly murderous.

"Ooh, a new toy," he said regarding the sphere that hung in the centre
of the room, the other side of the portal in the Gemini arm. He always
carried an air of superiority, even in front of Chaos, though he would
never try to usurp his leader.

Chaos had his superiority in the tangible form of force and power. This
dimension was created by him and every aspect of it was his to control,
and he never let anyone forget it.

"Callisto," he said at last. His voice echoed around the room,
resonating his deep timbre to the point where Callisto felt the voice
more than heard it.

The soldier didn't look up from the ord. "Yes, Chaos-sama?"

"The time has finally come. Soon we will be no longer confined to this
prison." He waved the orb away from Callisto and enlarged it to offer
him a better view. "There is but one threat to our plan."

"There is something that threatens my Chaos-sama?" Every word dripped
venom as he cast a languid glance at his leader.

"They are the remaining royalty of the Silver Millennium."

"Who? These Sailor Soldiers we've heard so much about from
our...guests?"

"Them and the others. And if they are reunited with the Soldiers..."

"You mean they haven't found them yet?"

"No. And I want you to go to Earth and kill them before they do."

"Oh, goody," Callisto giggled. "Time to wreak some havoc."

"Do not underestimate them." Chaos boomed, leaning forward. "Together or
apart, they are very formidable enemies."

"Not to worry, Chaos-sama. I play a very heavy hand." He turned back to
the orb, staring down at Earth.

Chaos sat back on his throne, his eyes filled with hate for only one
person.

<Serenity.>
