Ok, I seem to keep getting these and doing nothing with them and since
I've not posted any for some time... ^_^  Anyway, if someone wants them then
go ahead and if not, well at least I've some ideas to fall back on whenever I
get stuck with DC (as is currently the case).  At least one of the previous SM
ideas have come to something so far - I should be posting the first chapter in
a few weeks or so.  Anyway:
1)	SM/Ranma (with the Ranma cast's time adjusted to fit SM events)
	The ties between the two clans have endured a thousand years with the
cementing of those ties heralded once in each generation by the simultaneous
birth of a male and female child, one to the chosen of each clan, this
choosing determined by the birth itself.  For Ikuko and Nodoka, honour is
paramount and their duty accepted; so upon the simultaneous birth of Usagi
Tsukino and Ranma Saotome the mothers exchange the children (with much
complaining from Genma) and Ranma Tsukino and Usagi Saotome begin their lives.
Either Ranma would play no part at all in the story (he'd grow up in the
Tsukino home and there'd be nothing special about him) or be no more than a
background character.  The real emphasis would be on Usagi throughout her
childhood, that childhood equivalent to Ranma's but with the differences
expected both from her being a girl and of her own unique personality.  The
story would truly begin with Usagi's return to Japan and Genma's insane idea
to use her Nanichuan curse (well what else ^_^ - she could hardly fall into
the spring of drowned girl) to try to engage her to one of the Tendos.  It
would be under these conditions that she would discover Luna (much to her
horror although obviously she'd have to overcome her fear at least a little
when dealing with her) and her heritage.  The rest of the story would
chronicle the events of SM with the changes brought about by Usagi's
differences and perhaps the  additional complications brought about by the
problems that should have been native to Ranma.  I've not seen this idea tried
before and IMO it could really work very well. ^_^
2)	SM/Sapphire and Steel (very dark - post SM-Stars and the last S&S
episode):
	It is December of the year 1999 and the darkness that is the first
herald of the great cataclysm that will bring about the end of 20th century
civilisation and the centuries of frigid emptiness draws near.  Humanity seems
determined to herald the new millennium with a wave of ever-more-vicious civil
unrest while the doomsday prophecies grow ever more prevalent; and Pluto seems
to be growing ever more uneasy and uncommunicative.  The growing anxiety of
the Senshi culminates in a particularly ugly riot in which, appearing overtly
for the first time to help restore order to a Tokyo that seems ever more
determined to tear itself apart, at least some of their identities are at last
revealed by Television journalists thriving like parasites on the growing
chaos who catch their transformations.  Realising the enormity of the danger
as the public erupt in equal parts fanatical worship for those who will bring
about a return to order and usher in a new age and frustrated rage and hatred
at their seeming willingness to let things slide this far when they could have
done something, they decide very quickly that it is no longer safe for Usagi
to remain within the city and on the advice of the outers abandon Tokyo for
one of Pluto's country retreats high in the mountains and far from the
trouble.  In typical S&S fashion the night of their departure is bleak and the
journey ever more surreal as Haruka drives them ever higher into the peaks
through the bitter wind and driving snow.  Pluto should have gone with them
but at Usagi's pleading she had gone to make what arrangements she could
regarding the safe escape of the Tsukino and Aino families and Ami's mother.
They reach the retreat, an ancient Keep/Temple/Fortress (something that would
be typical of an S&S episode setting) and have barely stumbled into the chill
interior and out of the ever more savage blizzard when Pluto's disembodied
scream has them all in Senshi form in a moment and nearly has someone take
someone else's head off with an attack before she comes tumbling out of the
nothingness to fall whimpering in their midst, the time staff shattered in her
hand and terror beyond madness in her eyes.  As they gather around her, even
as she loses the fight for consciousness and rationality, she whispers eight
words that may herald the beginning of a horror beyond eternity, clutching at
Usagi as the princess drops to her side and gathers her to her: `The gate is
broken and Time is *hungry*!'  Then the shattered ruin of the time staff
begins to glow and reality warps insanely around them, madness in every
direction and insane snatches of past events and conversation whirling in a
senseless, numbing tableau before, with a final cataclysmic crescendo, reality
breaks for a moment and out of the maw of oblivion two figures are hurtled to
slam down in their midst; the imprisoned Sapphire and Steel.  From this point
it's up to whomever wants this but IMO this would not work without a true
appreciation of the underlying wrenching, bleak horror in the S&S concept of
time as a sentience of near-infinite hunger and as much cunning that cares
nothing for anything other than itself and exacts a terrible price in its
perpetual attempts to `Break Out.'.  I envisage this version of the Senshi's
reality as one in which time was `imprisoned' by the creators of the time-gate
and so, unlike S&S's native reality has had thousands upon thousands of years
to learn a pitiless hatred even beyond their own version and is bent on
absolute revenge.  I also imagine S&S as having at least some idea (perhaps
briefed even while still imprisoned (after the final S&S episode)) as to what
is going on - I imagine Silver also making an appearance before long.  Also,
in typical S&S fashion, it need not end pleasantly.  It could make a *very*
nasty tale and like Ranma, I think SM could cross *extremely* well with S&S,
IMO a *very* underrated series.
	Well, longer than I intended but that's it for now.  BTW, if anyone
else feels inclined to do a Sapphire and Steel X-over with any Anime I'd be
interested to take a look.  Who knows, they might even get a look in in DC. :)
It'd certainly suit them.
