This is another case of the amazing phenonemon known as author
licence.
First time I saw it, it kinda sounded to me like Ukyo had filled in the
SoD Man, perhaps just recently. It could explain a) why the spring
isn't
there (because it no longer exists, and there is evidence in the manga
to believe that it does exist), and also gives us a reason for Ukyo's
presence at Jusenkyo.
Of course, Ukyo never said she did that, and if she wanted to
hurt Ranma that would have been a very good way to do so (telling him,
that is, and not merely just filling it in), but then presumably she
does have some survival instincts left....
A possible explanation, at least, of what she was doing at
Jusenkyo....
