I am going to try to answer theas questions. Forgive me, for thay are 
*my* interptations of events.

Well, as far as we know, it was, and was not. With Earth was the only 
planet in our soler system not part of the Silver Millenium. In the 
manga, it is reveled that the Moon Kingdom exists to protect and guard 
the Earth.

2) Each of the Outer Senshi and the Inner Senshi come from one planet 
each (that is, if you're still counting Pluto as a planet and not a
satellite of Neptune).  Whyis there no Sailor Earth?  Is that
because Endymion is the champion of that planet as it's prince?

Because Endymion is the 'Sailor Earth', but he is and is not considered 
a Senshi. Senshi is japanies for 'star warrior', basicly Earth is not a 
'star' from the point of view of Earth. You can not see the Earth in the 
night sky when you are standing on it. This, thair is no 'Sailor 
Earth/Terra/whatever' that we know of.

3) What exactly was the status of the senshi on their
own home planets?  What did Jadeite and the rest do for Endymion?
Were they really paired up as it look like in Takeuchi's pictures?

Humm...The Senshi are princeses of thair own planets, and advisors and 
friends of the Princess Of The Moon (well, at least the Inner Senshi). 
It is not that far of a stretch for the Outter Senshi to be advisors of 
the Queen Of The Moon. Thay also protect the galaxy, and more 
importantly, the Earth.

The Dark Generals were Endymion's advisors and friends during the SM, 
but got warped by Queen Beryl/Queen Metalica. Metalica expecaly put out 
propganda agenst the SM in order to turn Earth agenst them. And when 
thay were through, Metalica would be unsealed, and then she would of 
taken over right under everyone's noses. Well, at least, that was the 
plan...

4) What are the generals names?  What are the Senshi's real
names (in the Silver Millenuum)?  Is 'Serenity' the name 
Takeuchi uses in the manga, or is that all DIC?

The Dark Generals names are what thair names are in both times. The 
Princeses were named after thair planet (at least, I think so). Serenity 
is the official name of both the mother and daughter of the moon. I 
think Nepheria went by the name of Tranquility before she went crazy 
when she realised that her beutie will not last forever (this is 
important, only because many people think the leader of the Dead Moon 
Curcus is, in fact, the sister of Queen Serenity).

5)  How closely related is Beryl to Endymion and Serenity?

Beryl is not closly related to them at all. Earth was, even in the time 
of the SM, still fragmenated into countries with difrent rulers. Thair 
is talk that Beryl was never a princess, and basicly forced her way into 
being leader of the Dark Kingdome.

6)  Who/What/Why is Metallia?

Metalica is the Queen of the Youma. The Dark Kingdome was one kingdome, 
hidden under the Earth. Metallia's kingdome exists in the Youma World, 
which is seperated by dimentions. Rumor has it that Metalica was once 
human, but her evil was so great that the Outter Senshi and Queen 
Senrity and Princess Tranquility joined forces to destroy her physical 
body, and seal her spiret away to the Youma World. Unforcently, the seal 
weakens over time, which explains a lot.
