I don't mean serious in that fashion.  A serious attempt at writing
a fanfiction, instead of a spamfic aimed to get a quick laugh.
Put some effort into it.  I'm assuming anyone who takes a serious
effort in writing any fanfiction will endeavour to write as decently
as possible.  That leaves only one variable left, the degree of friction
between two storylines an author wishes to mesh.  The more challenging
the integration, IMHO, the more interesting and respectable the
work.
