Oo, Valentine's Day! Time to drag the poor boyfriends and girlfriends for a

 In Japan, they have not one holiday like this, but two.  The first is
Black day, where it's the girls who buy dark chocolates and give them to
the boys they like.  The boys don't give any to the girls until the next
month on White day, when they give white chocolate back.  This is a way
of letting the person you like know that you do like them and vice 
versa.

This is true. In fact, you can dig up some information on this particular
event in Internet. However, IIRC, it's not really 'Black Day'. It's a simple
old-fashioned Valentine's Day (to me, Black Day sounds too ominious). Takes
place on Febraury 14th, and girls gives boxes of brown chocolates to their
boyfriends. Then in March- I'm not sure of the date- there's a White Day,
where boys returns thier girlfriends' gift with box of white chocolates.
I heard that the reason was that there was a bit of competition between white
and brown chocolate companies for Valentine's day, so they agreed that brown
chocolates would be given out on Feb., while a second day would be set for
white chocolates. And thus new custom was set up. Of course this may be just a
rumor.
But one thing's for sure is that white/brown choclate difference is a sure-way
to prevent the boys from returning the same box of choclates they got in Feb.
