What with the loving holiday around the corner, it may interest you to 
hear some third hand information.  I'm not entirely sure about this, so 
if I'm wrong, someone please tell me before I make a bigger arse out of 
myself.
  In Japan, they have not one holiday like this, but two.  The first is 
Black day, where it's the girls who buy dark chocolates and give them to 
the boys they like.  The boys don't give any to the girls until the next 
month on White day, when they give white chocolate back.  This is a way 
of letting the person you like know that you do like them and vice 
versa.
