I must admit that I only really began reading Eva fanfic recently, and that
writing some of my own (albeit a crossover) was a large part in this.  So
here I am, reviewing another Eva fic.

The tightly scripted nature of the Eva series makes it virtually impossible to
write anything except short character pieces and alternate universe stories.
This series is one of the latter.

In this case, a new pilot is introduced, an American *shudder*.  It _does_ still
feel a bit like a self-insertion--having characters use computers often seems
that way, since it is very likely that any writer on the Internet has at least
some interest in computers, but it's not too bad, and there is a logical reason
why it is specifically an American who is piloting the Eva.

I'm a little bit confused as to why Maya was so shocked when she saw who the
message was sent to.  It was apparently sent to Michael's old account.  Is
she unaware that Mike was alive?  Also, I don't completely believe the
encryption part; surely administrator access would allow an administrator
to do anything he wants, including getting the password from soneone's account
without them noticing.  (If I were Kaji, I'd have used a piece of paper.)

I wonder just how much difference having Michael around is going to make in the
long run.  While more firepower would have been helpful in End of Eva, as long
as the MP Evas won, I don't think much would have been changed.  Right now,
Michael's biggest impact on the story seems to be simply by being a mentally
stable Child (and let's face it, Shinji, Rei, and Asuka are all mentally
unstable in different ways).  If he ever does learn something that he's not
supposed to know, there's a good chance he'd either act on it or tell someone
else who would--he _is_ a threat to SEELE, and not because of what the Eva can
do.

There's not that much more I can comment on.  A lot of it will depend on exactly
what the backstory is.  We know that Michael has some kind of link to his Eva,
and that the Eva has some kind of consciousness that others don't.  All by
itself, this is interesting, but really doesn't imply much.  On the other hand,
it could mean quite a lot if it has something to do with where the Angels come
from or if there is some hidden cause between the merging.  (And if the _other_
Evas start to merge...  if Eva 00 is a clone of Lilith and merges with Rei,
you might get an early End of Eva...)

Anyway, I'm still waiting for more, and I will be reading this series in the
future.
