THE ADVENTURES OF SIR SHINJI

INTERLUDE ON A RAIN SOAKED ROAD:

"Come gather around people, wherever you roam; and admit that the waters
around you had grown, and accept that soon you'll be drenched to the bone."

"Do you mind, Ayanami?" Sir Shinji asked rather peevishly. He sneezed loudly,
and sniffled. "It's not funny."

Sir Shinji hated riding in the rain, but he had very little choice in the
matter, seeing as how the nearest shelter was quite a distance away. It
didn't help that his bard, Ayanami, insisted on singing.

" . . . You used to laugh about, everyone that was hanging out. Now you don't
talk so loud. Now you don't seem so proud. About having to be scrounging
your next meal. How does it feel? How does it feel? To be without a home.
Like a complete unknown. Like a rolling stone?"

"Shut UP, Ayanami!"

They rode in relative silence, the only sound being the harsh wind whipping
the rain to a frenzy, and Ayanami singing quietly about a Mr. Tambourine Man.
It was so quiet that Sir Shinji dozed off on his war-horse.

He would have slept on for quite a few more hours, if it hadn't been for the
loud rumble of the ground. Sir Shinji stirred, rather disorientated, and
muttering about thunder. He then fully awoke and saw that it wasn't thunder
at all.

"Aw, bugger," he said. For the noise was caused by a huge being falling from
the heavens; an Evangelist. "It's Saint Joseph. Father must be insane."

Saint Joseph, the divine wind of the Evangelists. No matter whose soul guided
the mad beast, it would invariably go beserk and kill without worry about its
own condition. The most battle-damaged Evangelist, but also the one with the
greatest record of success against the Bene ha'Elohim.

And his father had sent it after him.

"I am in very deep trouble, Ayanami. How the hell do I get out of it?" Sir
Shinji asked of his bard. If only he had his own Evangelist, Saint Basil, but
he had had to abandon it during a recent conflageration with Pythagorean
Sephiroth. The Evangelist was looking down at him but not, thankfully, moving
to crush him beneath its feet.

"The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind."

"Oh, thanks a lot!"

So the question remains, should I continue to write this?
