This is a teaser for a new series I'm going to be starting. I'm still working
on A Tangled Destiny but have no desire to continue with Not a Chance at this
time. This series will detail the final adventure of the Sailor Senshi
leading into the start of Crystal Tokyo. Enjoy the teaser.

Disclaimer
These characters are not mine. They belong to Takeuchi Naoko and I am using
them without permission. This is a piece of fan work intended to fill in a
gap left at the end of the series in a way Takeuchi Naoko may or may not agree
with.

Sailor Pluto stood in front of the Time Gate. Monitoring time was not a
particularly good job. It had long hours, no pay, and the benefits weren't as
great as one might imagine. All things considered, monitoring time went right
up there with flipping burgers at the local golden arches. It was a lousy
job, but it was her job and she was stuck with it.
The past two weeks she had spent monitoring the end of the Roman Republic.
That was a fragile time period. So much could go wrong and so easily. She'd
probably be speaking Latin for the next few weeks. At least today she was
moving on to a new time era, probably the Tang and Song dynasties. Where to
start was the question. The beginning was always an option but she had done
that last time. Having monitored the whole time stream more times than she
could remember, making changes to her routine was probably the only thing that
kept her sane.
Maybe it was time for a break. The longest time she'd spent with the other
Senshi since the Galaxia ordeal had been at the wedding. How long ago was
that now? A year or two tops. Well a visit was long overdue. Besides it
gave her an excuse to take a break.
With that decided Sailor Pluto swung the key shaped Garnet Rod above her
head, willing its energies to come forth.
"Gate of Time, as holder of the Garnet Rod I, Sailor Pluto, demand of you,
take me to my present!"
Time shifting had a similar sensation to blinking. A subtle disruption from
the normal surroundings. An odd sensation at first but quite easy to adapt
to. Sailor Pluto, having had over a thousand years of experience, did not
even notice it anymore.
Another of Sailor Pluto's powers allowed her to know when she was, and she
didn't like what it was telling her right now. It looked like visiting the
Senshi had to wait. The matter she would have to deal with in only a few
short hours was far too important.

A portal opened at the Time Gate, and then another, and another, and
another...
Sailor Pluto sat in a meditative position, ignoring it all. Shadowy
creatures that could have been born of nightmares began pouring through the
portals, swarms of them. She waited. Finally the one she wanted, their
leader, stepped through a dark glowing portal directly behind her. Slowly she
rose to her feet. Her face expressionless, she turned.
	"Quite a show."
"You knew I was coming." It was not a question. "Why did you do nothing to
stop me?"
"I'm sworn to protect time. I do not change it, not for my own benefit or
anyone else's." Sailor Pluto's voice matched her expressionless face.
"You know what I intend to do." It was also not a question.
"I will not stop you. It is part of time that you win here."
Two humans, military men by the look of their uniforms, stepped out through
the same portal their leader had previously used. Between the two of them
they just barely managed to carry a large, cumbersome piece of equipment. At
the leader's command they set down the device and activated it. Sailor Pluto
dropped her left hand to her side, holding the Garnet Rod close to her in the
other hand. She was calm and relaxed. After all she had been wishing for a
vacation.

It was over. At a gesture of his arm the shadows left, just as quickly as
they had entered. The leader turned to the two humans. They had served their
purpose. He drained them quickly adding their energy to his own. He stared
at Sailor Pluto's still figure, locked within the stasis field, still admiring
the sheer power of her will. She was a most remarkable woman. While he
contemplated the consequences of a battle between her and his shadow warriors
another portal opened allowing a woman to step through.
"Lord, I still question the practicality of this decision. Why lock her in
stasis when we could control her. Being able to travel through time would
make our task much easier."
"Easier to undo as well. None of us could have ever controlled that woman.
Besides its too late to change now. The device is within the stasis field and
has enough energy to operate for the next thousand years. Unless I suddenly
become immortal she'll be someone else's problem by then."
"Yes my lord." She knew why he had been chosen to lead. Few leaders would
tolerate their orders being questioned, much less listen to their subordinates
suggestions.
"Now that this one has been taken care we need only worry about Saturn. It
wouldn't do for us to summon the Ice Princess and conquer the world for her,
only to have the universe destroyed by a sore looser. Come, we have much to
prepare for." With that said he stepped through the portal, the woman
following after him. This was a great victory. The Ice Princess would reward
them well.

Author's note-
I realize there is little discription of the two villians introduced so far.
I'll revamp this when I write part one and think the characters through more
fully.
