I think you went a little over the edge, here.  The question might be 
valid--if the source of income is potentially important to the fic, as 
it was in whatever OAV it was when there was not enough money to buy 
food.  A fic with a similar premise might very well need some idea of 
where the money would normally be coming in.

OTOH, while posting the question to the list was perfectly valid, I have 
to wonder if I was the only one to realize that the answers should 
probably have been private?!

C'mon, people, let's use just a smidge of common sense, here, can we?  
Even if the querent doesn't specifically _ask_ for private replies, 
there are a number of conundrums that just take up space without adding 
to the list.
