I was reading CNN news today and came across the following:
http://www.cnn.com/US/9901/23/BC-SCIENCE-LIFE.reut/
Why I'm posting it here is because the company involved in the research
(creating and engineering artificial life from actual dna) is
the "Celera Genomics Corporation".
Their research focuses on creating _artificial_ Mycoplasma genitalium,
a bacteria which hitchhikes in the human body.
the first thing I thought was "boomers?"
Here's an omnious quote from the article:
"Just as Mary Shelley's Dr. Frankenstein used bits of corpses to
make a monster, Dr. J. Craig Venter hopes to salvage DNA from
dead bacteria to construct his artificial bug."

p.s. please respond privately because I don't know if this is
appropriate to post or not and I'm not one to raise
Tybalt-sama's ire.
