This is starting to turn into a ridiculous character debate.
However....
I'll put this bluntly: why is it so much of a given that Kuno would
lose to any of the Kenshin characters? Simply because of the fact that
Ranma doesn't have to raise an arm to beat him?***********
That and the fact that Kenshin is about or at least as fast as Ranma
is (as shown later on when he learns his session tech.), and just as
adaptable. Also, although more time has went by and more styles have been
created, doesn't necessarily mean that they can beat techniques from an
older school that was probably lost over time. Newer doesn't necessarily
mean better.
And finally, he would have a hard time fighting a Kenshin character for
the same reason Ranma might have. Ranma characters are Martial Artist, while
Kenshin characters (some of them) are warriors with the eyes of the
Hitokiri, and they have fought wars to the death. I mean really, can you
image Kuno beating the Hitokiri Battousai?!?! OR Goro?! The only one's who
could come close would be Ranma (considering he's usually the one taking out
the SPV in the series), and possibly Ryoga.
And why would it ever have to get that serious. There are many episodes of
Kenshin that are played purely for humor, why couldn't this be.
Plus, Kenshin has little in the way of ego. Can you see either Ranma or
Kuno doing laundry, or many of the other things Kenshin does as a matter of
course. He would be unlikely to get goaded into a fight, and I can't see
any real reason why he would face either Ranma or Kuno in a truly serious
one, it's not as if they are going to take Kaori hostage or threaten
somebodies life.
he does not have that 'I won't lose, no matter what' attitude. He'd gladly
throw a fight in this type of circumtances, if he thought it would be more
valuable then to win.
Ranma might learn a lesson about what it takes to be a real man, as opposed
to his current attitude. But, then maybe that's getting too serious again.
Have fun
