Well, added a sort of prelude to it. First part deals with the angel
and demon in question. This isn't the same as what happened in the d&d
manga though. Revised some scenes, rewrote some. Etc etc. Anyway have
fun reading it. Oh yeah, before I forget, someone please suggest a title
for this.

A Ranma/devil&devil
fusion.
Disclaimer: None of these characters belong to me
C&C welcomed, MST's too.

It was the set of sun, the time when day turned into night and the
streets started to empty out... except for those few who belonged to the
night. On the roof of an apartment, a young woman stood, watching
streaks of red paint the sky before finally being extinguished by the
night.

She contemplated her life, she was pregnant but the father of the child
refused to even talk to her now that he knew. Her parents didn't really
love her, only caring to barter her off to some young man's family for
prestige.

*Jump,* a small voice whispered in her mind's ear. Hesitantly at first,
she put one foot ontop of the ledge as she looked down on the city.

"What are you doing?" a voice said suddenly, coming from behind of her.
With a startled gasp, she turned around to see who it was and as she did
so, she hoped against hope that it was _him_.

It wasn't. Just as she registered that in her mind and disappointment
began to fill her again, she felt herself losing her balance. With a
shriek, she fell of the ledge, her arms desperately reaching out to
clutch at something as her life flashed before her eyes.

She closed her eyes and braced herself for the impact. It never came as
she felt someone grab her arm. Looking up, she saw the deep, blue eyes
of the stranger looking down at her in concern. Without a single word,
he began pulling her up.

"Are you okay?" he asked when she was finally up. Sobbing and sniffling
at the same time, she bawled out her thanks to him. Any thoughts she had
of suicide had vanished, the fear that she had felt in that instant as
she falling down was the worst she had ever known.

Finally, she managed to gain enough control over herself, at least
enough to ask her saviour's name.

"Zephyr," he said, smiling as he did so. "Remember, nothing is so bad
that there can be no hope." Coming from anyone else, it would have
sounded terribly corny but coming from him, it just seemed right.

"Thanks Zephyr, for saving me," she said, hugging him one last time
before turning around to leave. As she opened the door to the stair way,
she heard him say one more thing.

"Call your parents, you might find they love you more than you think,"
he said as he waved her goodbye.

"Huh, how did you kno-- Never mind, don't worry I will," she said as
she smiled for the first time that day.

Zephyr smiled as he looked at her smile. *It would be a waste to never
see such a pretty smile again,* he thought to himself.

When she finally left, Zephyr's eyes narrowed. "Come out Zeratul, I
know you're there!" he said harshly.

Another figure stepped out of the shadows, like one steps out of water.
He would have passed for human, if not for his eyes. Eyes which burned
with darkness.

"Damn it Zephyr! You've meddled in my affairs for the last time!" the
being known as Zeratul roared in anger. "Mark my words Zephyr, I'll see
you go down!" he yelled as he started to fade from view, finally
disappearing into shimmering motes which were blown away with the wind.

"We'll see," came the enigmatic reply from Zephyr.

 ----10 years later---

It was a place humans had never been to before. In this timeless limbo,
the angels and the demons engaged in a never-ending war.

In a large crater, a winged-figure kneeled, his once-shiny armour
tarnished and battered and his formerly-pristine wings was matted with
dirt. The only thing that seemed to be in good condition was the sword
which the angel held, resting on it like it was a staff.

Suddenly, the earth in front of him burst up and what seemed to be
liquid fire spilled up. Zephyr watched impassively as another winged
figure came out, although this one had the wings of a bat.

"Zeratul!" Zephyr spat the name out as he regarded the arrival with
narrowed eyes. "What do you want!"

"Tsk tsk, Zephyr. I'm here to make you an offer," Zeratul said,
smirking as he gazed at the fallen figure of Zephyr before him. "Join
us," he stated simply.

"Join you!? Hah!" Zephyr said in contempt. "Go to hell!"

Zeratul's eyes hardened as he looked back at Zephyr in contempt. " You
never did know who your betters were. I came to give you an offer but
since you refused..." he trailed off, smirking as a large sword started
to shimmer into his grasp. The blade seemed to be made of some sort of
huge fang.

"Prepare to die!" Zeratul said as he raised the huge blade above
Zephyr, preparing to bring it down and end Zephyr's life.

The blow never struck home as Zephyr raised his own sword and blocked
it. With a grimace of pain, Zephyr forced himself upright, bringing his
sword to bear on Zeratul.

"So, you still have strength....."Zeratul said before continuing, "This
is better, I would have preferred to end your miserable life in a
fight!"

And with that, he launched himself at Zephyr. The two beings met in
ferocious combat, neither giving an inch as they took flight.

"Give it up Zephyr!!" Zeratul yelled as he launched blow after blow at
Zephyr, only to have them blocked again and again.

Finally, Zephyr disengaged himself from Zeratul and the two rivals
stared at each other from a distance.

Zeratul had to admit Zephyr looked pretty banged-up. He seemed like a
puppet in the air, hanging limply on invisible strings.

"You can't beat me Zephyr! Not in your state! Why don't you just join
us," Zeratul yelled out.

"Join you!?! I'd rather die," Zephyr said with a tone that was as hard
as steel. And with that, he rushed towards Zeratul.

Zeratul smirked as he regarded Zephyr's suicidal charge. Without even
thinking, he raised his sword and thrust it through Zephyr's chest.
"Then die," he said simply with an evil glint in his eyes. It soon
changed to a look of total shock as Zephyr's sword impaled him through
his chest too.

The demon and angel stared at each other, one with a look of shock on
his face and the other of resigned fate. Slowly, a steady stream of
blood flowed from the corner of Zephyr's mouth as he looked at Zeratul.
With a weary sigh, he let go of his sword and fell, the demon's sword
still stuck in him.

 The demon soon followed.

 ------

"Look mama! Shooting stars!" a young girl said as she looked up at the
sky, where two bright flares were falling down to earth.

 ------

"Ranma?" Genma said as he peered into the dark confines of the pit. It
had been awfully quiet in there for the past few minutes, a bit too
silent...

Now Genma was an expert when it came to smelling trouble (and avoiding
it of course) and he couldn't help but feel that something was very,
very wrong. Quickly pulling up the rope which was attached to Ranma, he
tried to shake the feeling.

When he finally pulled Ranma out of the pit, what he saw next shocked
him thoroughly. Ranma was lying limply at the end of the rope, like a
lifeless puppet, his chest giving small, shuddering heaves every now and
then. He was adorned with various scratches and blood soaked his
formerly white gi.

As thoughts began running through his head of what Nodoka would do to
him if Ranma 'accidentally' died, he began praying fervantly for the
first time in years. He beseeched the kamis to allow Ranma to live.

He was so caught up in his prayers that he didn't notice what appeared
to be shooting star heading towards him and Ranma.

A second later, he was knocked out by the impact of the 'shooting
star'.

 ----

Zephyr grimaced as he crawled out of the crater, taking in his
surroundings at the same time. Noticing two figures nearby, both
unconscious, he crawled towards them. Something told him to go towards
the child and he did as the voice told.

When he took in the condition of the child, he frowned in disgust. The
child wasn't going to make it, unless.... He didn't know what kind of a
sadist would do this to a child, but it didn't matter right now.
Trembling slightly, he brought a blood-covered hand up and touched the
child's forehead. Closing his eyes, he concentrated.

Almost immediately, a brilliant glow began surrounding both figures,
intensifying until it ended with a brilliant burst of light.

 --------

Genma awoke, with a terrible throbbing in his head. He hadn't felt this
bad since the morning after he and Soun had made that little agreement.
Turning his head to see if Ranma was okay, he bellowed out in surprise.

Ranma had wings! And Genma was pretty sure that Ranma didn't have them
a few minutes ago... So the question was where did Ranma get the wings
from? The last thing he remembered was Ranma about to die...

He scrambled over to Ranma almost immediately and found to his relief
that Ranma was still alive. He noted that some of the scratches were
already healing and disappearing. Suddenly, he heard the whirl of police
sirens.

No doubt, they would ask about Ranma's condition and for answers he
wasn't prepared to give. If there was one thing Genma Saotome was an
expert at, it was in avoiding the law. With that thought, he slinked
away into the night with Ranma over his shoulder.

 -----------

"Heh! We're going to let you off now, just remember to bring the money
tomorrow!" the bully said as he kicked Hikaru Gosunkugi in the ribs.

Hikaru whimpered a reply as the bullies finally relented and started to
leave him alone. Suddenly, they heard a sound coming from above them.
Turning their heads up to look, they saw a shooting star fall towards
them.

"Crap!! Is that a meteor!?" one bully said in awe as he stared up at
the incoming object.

"Run!!" another bully yelled as they quickly ran away, leaving Hikaru
to lie there alone. The impact of the object send even more pain lancing
through Hikaru's whole body as he felt several weakened ribs break from
the shockwave.

Finally, when the smoke and dust had cleared, he got his first good
look at the object. Or more correctly, demon who stood in the middle of
a crater.

"DAMN YOU ZEPHYR!" Zeratul roared out his displeasure to the skies. And
grimaced almost immediately as the aching wound in his ribs began to
make itself known again. *D..damn!* he thought as he struggled to remain
upright. *My energy is dwindling, I can't stay in this body
anymore....looks like I'll have to borrow someone's body to dwell in
first.*

Hikaru noticed the fearsome apparition heading towards him and cowered
further back in fear even as he felt himself growing colder.

"Hey, kid...looks like you're dying too," Zeratul said, putting on what
he thought was his most friendly smile onto his face. "We could both
survive if you let me dwell in your body. In exchange, we both get to
live and you get power in return too!" Zeratul said, giving his best
impersonation of a used-car salesman.

 "P..power?" Hikaru said, stammering.

"Yes, power." Zeratul smirked to himself. Although a human body
couldn't endure the use of demonic energy, the host would still grow to
be stronger and faster than most people thought possible.

"O...okay!" Hikaru said as his thoughts turned to revenge.

"Great! You made the right choice kid!" Zeratul said as he thought, *I
won't die until I kill you Zephyr!*
 ------A few weeks later----

"5,000,000 yen!?" Genma said- not daring to believe his ears- as he
looked at the contract in front of him. Five million yen if he was to
sell Ranma to this carnival. The ringmaster had ranted on and on about
how Ranma would be the star attraction.

Looking back at Ranma - who was too far to hear the conversation going
on- he wondered if he should even be considering doing such a thing. But
then....he hadn't eaten in quite some time and five million yen could
buy a lot of things....

Finally, his stomach won out and he signed the contract all the while
telling himself that he would simply steal Ranma back at night.

 --------

Unfortunately, upon receiving the five million yen Genma proceeded to
get so drunk that five weeks passed before he regained soberness. And
then, it took another several weeks to track down the carnival.

"Ranma??" Genma whispered as he sneaked into the tent.

 "Otousan???"

Genma turned towards the voice and noticed Ranma inside a steel cage.
He appeared to be slightly well fed, although slightly downcast.

Upon seeing his otousan, Ranma had jumped up excitedly and grabbed
onto the bars of the cage.

"Sssh, I'll have you out of there in no time at all," Genma said,
fumbling with the lock for a few seconds before it clicked open.

Before he could make another move however, he felt something collide
with his head before darkness claimed him.

Ranma watched in fright as a heavy-set man stood behind his unconscious
father, holding a heavy bonbori in his right hand. The man looked at him
and Ranma could feel himself being weighed beneath the man's gaze.

Another male, although this one was lankier and white-haired, stepped
out from the shadows. But he seemed to be the person in charge as the
first male bowed to him.

"Lord Ema, this is the child which the gossips spoke about," the first
male said deferentially as he pointed towards Ranma.

"Hm, yes. His wings pronounce his true lineage, although it is strange
that I have not heard anything about one of our people having lost a
child," the leader said as he put his hand to chin thoughtfully.
Kneeling down, he held a white-gloved hand out to Ranma.

 "What is your name child?"

 "R...Ranma Saotome, who are you?"

 -------

"How dare you court the fair and lovely Akane Tendo, you infidel!!"
Kuno yelled as he charged towards the freshman. Briefly, he tried to
remember the name of the person. Ah, yes that was it, Hikaru Gosunkugi!
He would make that foul knave taste his blade and weep before the
vengeance of heaven. He could still remember how outraged he had been
when Nabiki had told him his lovely goddess was being wooed by this
Gosunkugi person.

Kuno however didn't notice the whole student population of Furinkan
High back away suddenly from him, as if he was a walking disease.

Hikaru didn't make the slightest indication of fear as he just stood
there calmly. As the bokken came slashing down towards him however, his
left hand shot up with inhuman speed and grabbed it in mid-air, halting
it's descent.

"Call me Hikaru," he said, smirking at Kuno's flabbergasted face before
delivering a brutal punch which sent Kuno flying into the school walls.

Casually, he took the bokken into both of his hands and snapped it as
it was a mere twig. Then he began advancing towards Kuno.

 -------

"Ranma! Ranma!" Kima yelled, cupping her mouth with her hands as she
looked around the room. *Where can he be!?* she thought irritatedly to
herself, why did he always have to disappear whenever she wanted to find
him. "Ranma! Where are you!!" she shouted to what seemed to be an empty
room, venting her frustrations on it.

"You called? a soft voice came from behind her. With a slight squeak,
she jumped up in fright. Turning around, she saw Ranma standing there
with a neutral expression on his face.

"Don't do that!" Kima said as she tried to slow her racing heart. How
did he always manage to sneak up on her- No, it wasn't just her. He
seemed to be able to sneak up on anyone that he liked to.

"Sorry," Ranma said innocently, before a glint of mischief appeared in
his eyes. "My Lady," he added a moment later.

"Don't call me that!" Kima said, as she wondered how one person could
managed to vex another so thoroughly. Ranma had gotten into the habit of
calling her 'Lady' because of her title as seneschal now that her father
had retired. He knew it irritated her to no end to hear him say that but
he never seemed to stop.

"So, what did you want me for?" Ranma said as he sat on his bed,
careful to fold his wings behind him. "I'm surprised you had time to
even look for me, considering you're so busy looking after _Lord
Saffron_," he said, heaping scorn on the name.

Kima stared for a moment at his wings, which seemed to be growing more
and more every day. It was generally agreed that Ranma had the most
beautiful wings in the mountain, white and impeccable.

"Now don't you get started on that again," Kima said sternly as she
folded her arms in front of her and she stared at Ranma evenly. "I know
you can't stand Lord Saffron but he is our king."

"He's an annoying brat, that's what he is. But I'm sure you didn't come
here to discuss _Lord Saffron's_ habits with me. "

"Well, there's someone claiming to be your father downstairs," Kima
said as she pointed out the large balcony.

"Otousan!?" Ranma exclaimed in surprise. It had been six years since he
had last seen his father. Rushing to the balcony, he spread his huge
wings and jumped off.

Gliding down gracefully to the bottom of Pheonix mountain, to the spot
where intruders were usually greeted, he tried to make out the figures
down below.

"Ranma," one of the guards said, nodding politely when he touched down.

Ranma was somewhat well-respected through Pheonix mountain because of
two factors. Firstly, he was the friend of the current seneschal and
two, because of his fighting ability.

 "Ranma??" a different voice said.

Ranma turned to look at the man who was supposedly his father. *Hmm,
he's fat....wears glasses....bald,* Ranma said, mentally comparing the
man before him to the last memory he had of his father.

"Otousan??" Ranma said before the man rushed up and embraced him in a
tight hug.

"Waaah! I thought I'd never see you again!!" Genma said, relieved that
he had finally found Ranma. Now he could go back home without fear that
Nodoka would kill him. It certainly was lucky that he had heard the
rumours about the winged people living here.

 _____

"You're serious!? You're leaving!?!" Kima yelled, causing Ranma to
wince at the sound level.

"Uh...yeah," Ranma said, mastering a feeble grin to his face.

"Why!?!?" Kima said incredulously as she regarded Ranma like he was
insane.

"Uh....well, he's my otousan after all. Besides I want to see my mother
too, she's back in Japan," Ranma stated simply.

"But...but... Pheonix Mountain is your home!"

"It's not like I'm going away and never coming back," Ranma said as he
continued packing the rest of his stuff. "I promise I'll come back every
now and then. Maybe you guys could even visit me in Japan if you want
to," Ranma said as he turned back to Kima, Masara and Kurama.

"We're going to miss ya Ranma," Masara said.

"Yeah, after you go. It'll just be us and this old spinster," Kurama
said sincerely, only to be slapped on the back of his head by Kima.

 "I'm NOT an old spinster!!"

Ranma smiled as he kept on packing, he was going to miss them too.

 _____

"Hey, I recognise this place. This is Jusenkyo!" Ranma said as he
surveyed the valley before him. Numerous small pools populated the area,
each with a bamboo stick jutting out of them.

"Right! And it's best known for being a training ground!" Genma said as
he leapt onto one of the poles. "C'mon boy, I wanna see how rusty your
skills have gotten over the past six years!"

"Uh...I don't think you should do that, the pools are cursed you see,"
Ranma said, a bit too late however as Genma somehow managed to slip and
fall into a pool.

Ranma sighed, putting his face into his hand as he wondered if he made
a smart decision leaving Pheonix mountain.

 ______

"So, who's this friend of yours we're going to meet??" Ranma asked,
almost regretting his decision to go with his father and leave Pheonix
Mountain. Everyone was staring at his wings, making him feel slightly
uncomfortable. Things like this never happened in Pheonix Mountain.

"He was my fellow disciple and we made an old arrangement long ago that
we're going to honour today," Genma said as he half dragged Ranma along
with him. "Um, could you hide your wings? We don't want to scare them."

"Fine," Ranma said as he concentrated slightly. A blueish glow
surrounded him as his wings started to shrink into his back before
finally disappearing. He still wasn't quite sure how he was able to do
that, none of the others back at Pheonix Mountain seemed to be able to.

Before they could even finish walking up to the front door, two figures
came out and started welcoming them.

Nabiki stared at the son of her father's friend. He wasn't rather bad
looking but there was a palpable air of naivete around him. He was the
kind who stood out in a crowd, although those wierd clothes he was
wearing didn't help any. They seemed to be some sort of armour in fact.

 "Genma!"

"Soun! Meet my son, Ranma," Genma said, pushing his son in front.

"Finally!! Our houses can be united," Soun said, tears spilling down
his face. "Akane, Kasumi, come and meet Ranma!"

Ranma watched as two other girls came out of the house, one grumbling
under her breath and the other exhibiting an aura of innocence and to a
smaller extent, apprehension.

The festive mood was cut short however as the noisy engines of a
motorcycle were heard. Almost immediately, all the Tendos' fell silent.

A minute or two later, someone on a motorcycle skidded to a stop
outside of the Tendo Dojo. Jumping off the seat casually, the person
started walking up the pathway to the house.

Ranma noted the strange clothes the person wore, a black jacket along
with pants and a white shirt that had the words <What are ya looking
at!> printed on it. He could feel a sense of apprehension and disgust
well up from withing him and he looked at the guy. He could feel the
same apprehension coming from the rest.

"Yo, Akane. Ready for our date??" the guy said, sauntering up towards
them.

Akane recoiled slightly in fear and disgust, before her face lighted
up. Grabbing onto Ranma's arm, she said, "I'm sorry Gosunkugi. Meet my
fiancee, Ranma." With that, she kissed Ranma on the cheek, which caused
Ranma's eyes to bulge out in shock and surprise and caused the vein on
Gosunkugi's head to bulge out too.

Hikaru Gosunkugi saw red. Why were people always chasing after what was
rightfully his!? Wasn't what he had done to that Kuno fellow enough to
persuade them to give up? Well, he'd make a better example of this Ranma
fellow.

Almost too quickly for the eyes to see, Hikaru launched a punch at
Ranma, going straight for his face as the rest of the family looked on
in worry, certain Akane had doomed the poor boy.

They were suitably surprised when Ranma caught it. The both of them
struggled to see who was stronger, the muscles on their arms bulging
out.

Finally, after a moment, Hikaru detached his hand from Ranma's. The
demon snarled from within him, yelling out something. He could only
catch the word, "Zephyr!" and for a moment he could have sworn that he
saw a larger image of a winged figure, with long dark hair superimposed
on top of Ranma.

Walking back to his bike, he got onto it and started it up. With one
final glance towards Ranma, he said, "This ain't over Ranma. Akane is
mine!" With that, he roared off.

After a few moments, Ranma blinked and stopped looking at the spot
where Hikaru had been. Turning his head politely to the rest of the
family, he asked, "Can someone please tell me what just went on!?"

Authors Note: For those who dont know the devil&devil manga, well
basically it's about these angel and demon who are archrivals. During
one of their fights, they fall to earth while severely injured. To
survive, they possessed two people who were on the brink of death. And
they find out they can't go back because they don't know how to leave
the bodies. In the manga, their personalities were the dominant. In this
fic however, the original personalities are the more dominant one with
the angel/demon's personality being buried in the subconscious. Hikaru
is much more inclined to evil in the story thanks to the demons
influence upon him while Ranma is more naturally inclined to good thanks
to the angel. Why Hikaru some may ask? Well he just seemed right for the
role.

Also note, sorry to Shampoo fans but I'm not going to bring Shampoo into
this most likely. Since Ranma most likely knows about the whole
surrounding area, he would know about the Musk and the Amazons and would
be smart enough to avoid them.

Zephyr was taken from a card in M:tg, a blue summon called Zephyr
Falcon. Zeratul is the name of the Dark templar from Star Craft.
