A Ranma/devil&devil
fusion.

Genma looked at the clock besides him, noticing that it was almost time
to pull Ranma out of the pit again. It sure had been awfully quiet in
there for the past few minutes. Almost casually, he started pulling up
the rope he had tied around Ranma's waist before throwing him in. It
made retrieving him so much easier Genma felt.

He couldn't wait to see if it had finally worked this time. With one
last yank of the rope, he pulled Ranma out of the pit. He noticed
something was wrong almost immediately.

Ranma was lying there like a rag doll, his chest giving small little
heaves every now and then. Various scratches adorned him from head to
toe and he seemed like he had lost quite some blood. Not to mention he
felt cold to the touch, Genma thought as he jerked his hand back.

Momentarily, thoughts began running through his head of what Nodoka
would do to him if Ranma accidentally died.

Fervantly, Genma began praying for the first time in years. He
beseeched the kamis' to spare his son. Almost immediately, a bright
flare appeared in the sky and began streaking down towards him,
seemingly the answer to his prayers.

He was knocked unconscious by the impact which followed as the flare
hit the ground. A steadily-dimming glow surrounded the flare until
finally a winged-figure could be seen in the middle of a crater.

He was dressed in ornamental armour and his long, black hair ran down
his back as he staggered forward. His long, elegant wings were dark and
matted as if he had just been tossed through a storm. But what stuck out
most about him was the fact that he currently had a organic-looking
sword stuck through his stomach and jutting out his back.

Grimacing with every step, he stumbled over to the nearest human--
Ranma. With a sigh, he fell to his knees before the child, bringing up a
blood-covered hand as he touched the child's forehead. Closing his eyes,
he concentrated.

Almost immediately, a brilliant glow began surrounding the two figures,
intensifying steadily until it ended with a bright burst of light.

 _____

Genma awoke later, wondering what the heck had happened. He turned his
head to check if Ranma was okay.

What he saw next shocked him. Ranma had wings sprouting out from his
back Scrambling over to Ranma, he found out that although Ranma wasn't
fully healed, he was at least stabilised.

Giving thanks to whatever kami had acknowledge his wish, he picked
Ranma up and started to leave the scene of the impact. Judging by the
size of the crater, whatever had happened must have been seen by local
authorities. In fact, it was a wonder they weren't here already.

No doubt, they would ask about Ranma's condition and answers he was not
prepared to give. If there was one thing Genma Saotome was an expert at,
it was in avoiding the law.

 ______A few weeks later___

"5,000,000 yen!?" Genma said- not daring to believe his ears- as he
looked at the contract in front of him. Five million yen if he was to
sell Ranma to this carnival, the ringmaster had ranted on and on about
how Ranma would be the star attraction.

Looking back at Ranma - who was too far to hear the conversation going
on- he wondered if he should even be considering doing such a thing. But
then....he hadn't eaten in quite some time and five million yen could
buy a lot of things....

Finally, his stomach won out and he signed the contract all the while
telling himself that he would simply steal Ranma back at night.

 _________

Unfortunately, upon receiving the five million yen Genma proceeded to
get so drunk that five weeks passed before he regained soberness. And
then, it took another several weeks to track down the carnival.

"Ranma??" Genma whispered as he sneaked into the tent.

 "Otousan???"

Genma turned towards the voice and noticed Ranma inside a steel cage.
Upon seeing his otousan, Ranma had jumped up exitedly and grabbed onto
the bars of the cage.

"Sssh, I'll have you out of there in no time at all," Genma said,
fumbling with the lock for a few seconds before it clicked open.

Before he could make another move however, he felt something collide
with his head before darkness claimed him.

Ranma watched in fright as a heavy-set man stood behind his unconscious
father, holding a heavy bonbori in his right hand.

Another male, although this one was lankier and white-haired. But he
seemed to be the person in charge as the first male bowed to him.

"Lord Ema, this is the child which the gossips spoke about," the first
male said deferentially.

"Hm, yes. His wings pronounce his true lineage, although it is strange
that I have not heard anything about one of our people having lost a
child," the leader said as he put his hand to chin thoughtfully.
Kneeling down, he held a white-gloved hand out to Ranma.

 "What is your name child?"

 "R...Ranma Saotome, who are you?"

 ______

"Ranma! Ranma!" Kima yelled, cupping her mouth with her hands as she
looked around the room. *Where can he be!?* she thought irritatedly to
herself, why did he always have to disappear whenever she wanted to find
him. "Ranma! Where are you!!"

"You called? a soft voice came from behind her. With a slight squeak,
she jumped up in fright. Turning around, she saw Ranma standing there
with an un-interpretable expression on his face.

"Don't do that!" Kima said as she tried to slow her racing heart. How
did he always manage to sneak up on her- No, it wasn't just her. He
seemed to be able to sneak up on anyone that he liked to.

"Sorry," Ranma said innocently, before a glint of mischief appeared in
his eyes. "My Lady," he added a moment later.

"Don't call me that!" Kima said, as she wondered how one person could
managed to vex another so thoroughly. Ranma had gotten into the habit of
calling her 'Lady' because of her title as seneschal now that her father
had retired. He knew it irritated her to no end to hear him say that but
he never seemed to stop.

"So, what did you want me for?" Ranma said as he sat on his bed,
careful to fold his wings behind him.

Kima stared for a moment at his wings, which seemed to be growing more
and more every day. It was generally agreed that Ranma had the most
beautiful wings in the mountain, white and impeccable.

"Well, there's someone claiming to be your father downstairs," Kima
said as she pointed out of the window.

"Otousan!?" Ranma exclaimed in surprise. It had been six years since he
had last seen his father. Rushing to the window, he spread his wings and
jumped off.

Gliding down, gracefully to the bottom of Pheonix mountain where
intruders were usually greeted, he tried make out the figures down
below.

"Ranma," one of the guards said, nodding politely when he touched down.

Ranma was somewhat well-respected through Pheonix mountain because of
two factors. Firstly, he was the friend of the current seneschal and
two, because of his fighting ability.

 "Ranma??" a different voice said.

Ranma turned to look at the man who was supposedly his father. *Hmm,
he's fat....wears glasses....bald,* Ranma said, mentally comparing the
man before him to the last memory he had of his father.

"Otousan??" Ranma said before the man rushed up and embraced him in a
tight hug.

"Waaah! I thought I'd never see you again!!" Genma said, relieved that
he had finally found Ranma. Now he could go back home without fear that
Nodoka would kill him.

 _____

"You're serious!? You're leaving!?!" Kima yelled, causing Ranma to
wince at the sound level.

"Uh...yeah," Ranma said, mastering a feeble grin to his face.

"Why!?!?" Kima said incredulously as she regarded Ranma like he was
insane.

"Uh....well, he's my otousan after all. Besides I want to see my mother
too, she's back in Japan."

"But...but... Pheonix Mountain is your home!"

"It's not like I'm going away and never coming back," Ranma said as he
continued packing the rest of his stuff. "I promise I'll come back every
now and then. Maybe you guys could even visit me in Japan if you want
to," Ranma said as he turned back to Kima, Masara and Kurama.

"We're going to miss ya Ranma," Masara said.

"Yeah, after you go. It'll just be us and this old spinster," Kurama
said sincerely, only to be slapped on the back of his head by Kima.

 "I'm NOT an old spinster!!"

Ranma smiled as he kept on packing, he was going to miss them too.

 _____

"Hey, I recognise this place. This is Jusenkyo!" Ranma said as he
surveyed the valley before him. Numerous small pools populated the area,
each with a bamboo stick jutting out of them.

"Right! And it's best known for being a training ground!" Genma said as
he leapt onto one of the poles. "C'mon boy, I wanna see how rusty your
skills have gotten over the past six years!"

"Uh...I don't think you should do that, the pools are cursed you see,"
Ranma said, a bit too late however as Genma somehow managed to slip and
fall in the pool.

Ranma sighed, putting his face into his hand as he wondered if he made
a smart decision leaving Pheonix mountain.

 ______

"So, who's this friend of yours we're going to meet??"

"He was my fellow disciple and we made an old arrangement long ago that
we're going to honour today," Genma said as he half dragged Ranma along
with him. "Um, could you hide your wings? We don't want to scare them."

"Fine," Ranma said as he concentrated slightly. A blueish glow
surrounded him as his wings started to shrink into his back before
finally disappearing.

Before they could even finish walking up to the front door, two figures
came out and started welcoming them.

Nabiki stared at the son of her father's friend. He wasn't rather bad
looking but there was a palpable air of naivete around him. He was the
kind who stood out in a crowd, although those wierd clothes he was
wearing didn't help any. They seemed to be some sort of armour in fact.

 "Genma!"

"Soun! Meet my son, Ranma," Genma said, pushing his son in front.

"Finally!! Our houses can be united," Soun said, tears spilling down
his face. "Akane, Kasumi, come and meet Ranma!"

Ranma watched as two other girls came out of the house, one grumbling
under her breath and the other exhibiting an aura of innocence and to a
smaller extent, apprehension.

The festive mood was cut short however as the noisy engines of a
motorcycle were heard. Almost immediately, all the Tendos' fell silent.

A minute or two later, someone on a motorcycle skidded to a stop
outside of the Tendo Dojo. Jumping off the seat casually, this someone
started walking up the pathway to the house.

Ranma noted the strange clothes the person wore, a black jacket along
with pants and a white shirt that had the words <What are ya looking
at!> printed on it. Almost immediately, he disliked the guy.

"Yo, Akane. Ready for our date??" the guy said, sauntering up towards
them.

Akane recoiled slightly in fear and disgust, before her face lighted
up. Grabbing onto Ranma's arm, she said, "I'm sorry Gosunkugi. Meet my
fiancee, Ranma." With that, she kissed Ranma on the cheek, which cause
Ranma's eyes to bulge out in shock and surprise and cause the vein on
Gosunkugi's head to bulge out too.

Hikaru Gosunkugi saw red. Why were people always chasing after what was
rightfully his!? Wasn't what he had done to that Kuno fellow enough to
persuade them to give up? Well, he'd make a better example of this Ranma
fellow.

Almost too quickly for the eyes to see, Gosunkugi launched a punch at
Ranma, going straight for his face as the rest of the family looked on
apprehensively.

They were suitably surprised when Ranma caught it. The both of them
struggled to see who was stronger, Gosunkugi trying to advance his fist
and Ranma trying to keep it where it was.

Finally, after a moment, Gosunkugi detached his hand from Ranma's. A
voice snarled within him, yelling out something. He could only catch the
word, "Zephyr!" and for a moment he could have sworn that he saw a
larger image of a winged figure, with long dark hair superimposed on top
of Ranma.

Walking back to his bike, he got onto it and started it up. With one
final glance towards Ranma, he said, "This ain't over Ranma. Akane is
mine!" With that, he roared off.

After a few moments, Ranma blinked and stopped looking at the spot
where Gosunkugi had been. Turning his head politely to the rest of the
family, he asked, "Can someone please tell me what just went on!?"

Authors Note: For those who dont know the devil&devil manga, well
basically it's about these angel and demon who are archrivals. During
one of their fights, they fall to earth while severely injured. To
survive, they possessed people who were on the brink of death. And they
find out they can't go back because they don't know how to leave the
bodies. In the manga, their personalities were the dominant. In this fic
however, the original personalities are the more dominant one with the
angel/demon's personality being buried in the subconscious. Hikaru is
much more inclined to evil in the story thanks to the demons influence
upon him while Ranma is more naturally inclined to good thanks to the
angel.
