Where Does My Heart Beat Now? - Part 3

   When Chaos appeared in front of Nagisa and Kawai, the two girls could
think of only one response:

   "CHARGING UP!!!"

   With those two words, Nagisa Kai and Kawai Kawai disappeared, and the
Normal Type and Silver Iczelions took their place, ready to fight an enemy
they thought they had defeated once before...

   "Chaos!" Nagisa said, "We defeated you!  How the hell did you survive?"

   Chaos laughed sinisterly.  "When one has played the game of destruction
as long as I have, you learn to have an escape ready just in case."

   Kawai rolled her eyes. "What the hell does that mean?."

   Chaos sneered at the two Iczelions.  "You'll never know, Iczelions." He
smirked. "Know this, when I'm finished with you two and your friends, your 
Earth is next.  This time, I think the game will be more...enjoyable, don't
you think?"

   Nagisa thought back to her Iczel's flashback.  The systematic
destruction of an entire planet and it's population.  The last Iczelion
Normal Type.  The final destruction of the planet.  <He thinks this is a
game, this destruction.  No...no more.> Nagisa thought.  <{It stops now!}>

   Kawai looked around.  <I thought I heard something just now...>

   "Well?" Chaos asked, "What are you waiting for?  I relish the chance the
paint a canvas with your blood, and I am a very impatient man."

   The two Iczelions braced themselves.  "You're not destroying anyone
today, Chaos!" Nagisa said, before she brought up her arms and fired a 
energy bolt at Chaos.

   "Nagisa, be careful!" her Iczel said.

   The beam bounced off a shield surrounding Chaos.  

   "Oh shit!" Nagisa said.

   "Oh, crap." Kawai said.

   " You two are pathetic." Chaos laughed.  He raised his arm. "My turn."

   Small spheres appeared around Nagisa and Kawai.  Chaos dropped his arm,
and the spheres began flashing with deadly electrical charges, shocking
Nagisa and Kawai.  

   The two Iczelions managed to break free of the spheres hold and flew to
attack Chaos, who flew away from them, leading the two Iczelions.  As they 
flew towards him, Nagisa had a feeling of deja-vu.  <This seems familiar...
like...the dream!!!!> "Kawai!!  WAIT!!!"

   Kawai turned around to face Nagisa, and in doing so, and at that moment,
Chaos fired an energy bolt that caught her in the shoulder.  Crying out in
pain, Kawai collapsed to the ground.

   "KAWAI!!!!" Nagisa flew after her friend.  Landing by her, she cradled
her injured friend in her arms.  <Better run for now> she thought, looking 
up at a rapidly approaching Chaos. "Iczel?  Can we teleport?" she asked.

   "Yes, but it will be a blind teleport.  I don't know where we'll end
up." Her Iczel replied.  Kawai's Iczel, damaged but still functional
confirmed that.

   "I don't care.  Anywhere is better than here.  Teleport."

   The two Iczelions disappeared in a flash of light.

   ***<3***

   On a sandy beach surrounded on three sides by rocky cliffs, the two
Iczelion reappeared in a flash of light.

   Nagisa laid Kawai down and knelt down beside her to check her injuries. 
To Nagisa's relief, Kawai was not seriously hurt.

   Kawai opened her eyes.  "N..Nagisa?"

   "Kawai?  Are you all right?" Nagisa asked.

   "Yes, I think so."  Kawai got up and shook the sand out of her hair.
"Though I'm going to have a heck of a time getting the sand out of my
clothes."

   Both girls had a good laugh.  Then Nagisa bowed her head. "Kawai...I'm
sorry."

   "Sorry??  For what?" Kawai asked.

   "If I hadn't yelled out like that, you might have not been hurt...,"
Nagisa was saying, her head bowed down, with her hair covering her 
sorrow-filled eyes.

   Kawai put one hand on Nagisa's shoulder, letting it trail along Nagisa's
green hair, and used the other hand to raise Nagisa's head up.  "Nagisa, 
it's not your fault.  I probably wouldn't have seen that beam coming
anyway.  
You remember the last time we faced Chaos."  She frowned and turned her 
head to the horizon, a sudden thought striking her.  "Come to think of it,
we 
*did* beat Chaos then.  Why the hell did he show up again?"

   Nagisa turned her head away, tears shimmering in her eyes.  "You don't
understand!  I cried out like that, because I had a dream..."

   Kawai turned her head back, her eyes wide in surprise.  "A dream?"

   Nagisa nodded. "Yes.  In it, you were shot by something, and you were
trying to tell me something before you died, but you never said it.  I felt
like a part of my soul had died."  Nagisa looked at Kawai's shocked face. 
"What?"

   Kawai's voice shook as she spoke.  "I...I had the same dream."

   Nagisa's eyes went wide.  "WHAT?"

   "It was exactly as you described, but you were the one who was shot."

   Both girls looked at each other, the air thick with the tension between
them.

   Finally Kawai said, "What does it mean?"

   "I don't know," Nagisa replied, "but what I do know is that I would
never let anyone harm you, Kawai."  She took Kawai's hand in her own.

   <Tell her!  Tell her!> Part of Nagisa's mind urged.  But before she
could open her mouth to say anything more...

   Beams of energy impacted the sandy shoe around them.  The two Iczelions
leapt up and back.  

   They looked up to see that Chaos had reappeared above where they were
just sitting.

   "My, aren't we a cozy couple." Chaos said, leering at the two girls,
right before he fired another storm of energy bolts at the two Iczelions.  

   The two girls leaped around the barrage and turned to attack Chaos.  As
they were flying towards Chaos, Nagisa got an idea.

   "Hey, Kawai?" Nagisa asked.

   "Yes, Nagisa?" Kawai said.

   "After we take out the trash, let's get something to eat, okay?" Nagisa
said, smiling at the brown haired girl.

   Kawai smiled. "I'd like that."

   "Oh, give me a break!" Chaos said, firing a shockwave at the two girls,
forcing them to fall to the ground.  Nagisa got up and charged Chaos.  When
she was a few feet from him, she leapt up, engaged her beam saber, and
tried to
drive it through him.

   The saber bounced off Chaos shield. 

   <Sometimes, I really hate my life.> Nagisa thought as she pulled back
and tried to throw a punch at Chaos, only to have him catch her hand and
throw her several feet away. Ignoring the blasts from Kawai striking his
shield,
Chaos raised his hand at Nagisa, smiled evilly, and fired another shockwave

at her.

   Nagisa staggered, but was unharmed by the attack.  Uncrossing her arms
from her shielding position, she fired another energy bolt.  At the same
time, Kawai managed to fire at Chaos again.

   Kawai's bolt was stopped by the shield, but Nagisa's burned through and
hit Chaos right in the face.  He staggered back and, holding his face,
scowled at the Iczelion Normal Type.

   "Nagisa, it appears that the shield protects only one side at a time."
her Iczel noted.

   "Yeah, now how do we get him to stop firing at us long enough to take
advantage of that?" Nagisa asked.  Her Iczel was silent.

   Chaos's arm started glowing with energy. "For that insult, you will die,
Nagisa Kai!" He fired a stronger shockwave than before at Nagisa.  Nagisa 
was hit and thrown into the ground, leaving a very impressive crater.

   Chaos then pointed his arm, still crackling with energy discharges, at
Nagisa.  "Die." 

   Forked lightning burst from his hand, which broke through the Iczelion's
abused shields and clawed at Nagisa, who was convulsing with the shocks 
the energy was giving her.

   "Beam Boomerang!!!" 

   Two energy blades struck Chaos in the arm, then swung around and struck
Chaos again, this time in the face, causing him to stagger back a bit,
allowing Kawai to rush over to Nagisa and teleport the two of them away.

   Chaos scowled.  <The game is not yet over, Humans.> he thought darkly.

   The two girls reappeared in the middle of a blasted and destroyed
landscape.  Looking up, Kawai could see something obscured by the thick
clouds.  Upon closer inspection, the object appeared to be...a giant,
severed human
head.

   Kawai looked at the scene with horror.  <Oh my God.>  "Uh, Iczel?
Someplace else would be nice. *Now.*"

   "I agree, Kawai.  Hold on!" her Iczel said.

   The two Iczelions disappeared from the post Third Impact Earth.

   In a valley with gently sloping hills and flowers all around; the two
Iczelions appeared in a flash of light.  Kawai laid Nagisa down on the
ground and knelt down beside her.

    "Uhh..." Nagisa was coming around.  "Anyone get the number of that
truck that hit me?"

   "Nagisa?" Kawai said, tears forming in her eyes, "are you all right?"

   "Yes, Kawai." Nagisa replied, grabbing Kawai's hand in her own.  "I'm
all right.  Thanks for the save.  We're even now." she said with a laugh.

   "Well, I couldn't leave you to be killed by that monster..." 

   In that instant, Kawai made a decision that summed up her turbulent
feelings for the past few weeks concerning everything...her and Nagisa...

   "...I couldn't let you die...because I think I love you."

   Nagisa's eyes widened. <She...she loves me?>  Aloud, she said "What?"

   Before Kawai could get the courage to say it again, a maniacal laugh was
heard.  Then one word was spoken.

   "Die."

   A huge energy beam lanced out of the sky towards Nagisa and Kawai.  

   Kawai jumped on to of Nagisa as the beam hit, striking the two girls and
the ground around them.  Kawai took the worst of the impact, but Nagisa, 
because she was shielded by Kawai, got off lightly.

   The beam cut off, and Kawai went limp.  Rolling her friend off of her,
Nagisa went to check her injuries.

   <}"I love you."{>

   <A friend...no, a lot more...now.> Nagisa thought.

    Nagisa cradled the other Iczelion in her arms.  "Kawai?  Kawai?  Please
don't die...did you really mean it?  What you said?"

   Kawai opened her eyes and looked up at the vision of beauty before her. 
Even though she was covered with cuts and burns and generally looking beat
up, to Kawai's eyes, Nagisa was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.

   "Yes, I did mean it, Nagisa...I love you."  She reached a hand up to
caress Nagisa's face, ignoring the pain that one movement was causing her.

   For her part, Nagisa looked stunned as the truth of Kawai's statement
rolled over her.  She thought of her torn and mixed feelings over the past
few weeks and then, the pure and simple truth shone in her heart.  

   Nagisa looked down at the vision of beauty that had haunted and
perplexed her with the feelings it aroused, and at that moment, made her
decision.

   Eyes shining with tears, Nagisa took Kawai's hand in her own and looked
down at her.

   "I love you too, Kawai."

   Then Nagisa leaned down and kissed Kawai.

   For both of them, it was the sweetest thing they had ever felt.  In that
instant, their feelings for each other were crystallized, and they let
those feeling in that kiss, letting the other know exactly how they felt.

   In the heart and soul of Nagisa Kai, the Normal Type Iczelion, a new
power began building up, waiting to be released.

   Unknown to the both of them, Nagisa started glowing.

   Then Kawai's arm went limp, and she fell unconscious.

   "Kawai?  Please don't leave me...not now...Iczel?"

   "I...I don't know, Nagisa.  I can't communicate with the Silver Iczel,
and I can't sense Kawai's lifesigns..." her Iczel said.  "I'm sorry,
Nagisa."

   Tears began to form in Nagisa's eyes.

   "Pathetic humans, your emotions make you weak.  No wonder you must be
destroyed." Chaos said, looking down on the two girls with a look of
disgust.

   Nagisa-still glowing-looked up at the floating Chaos with a look of pure
rage and anger in her eyes.

   <Kawai...this is for you.> She thought.  "Chaos, for this, I will never
forgive you!" she shouted up at Chaos.

   Chaos laughed.  "Brave words, Nagisa Kai...but the dead cannot forgive
the living...and I am not the one who will die!!!"  With that, Chaos
released an energy bolt similar to the one that had injured Kawai.  

   The bolt traveled downward towards Nagisa, who simply stood there, 
with a glow not unlike St. Elmo's fire steadily building around her.

   The bolt struck, and was deflected around Nagisa.

   "WHAT??" Chaos said, dumbfounded by the failure of his attack.

   Nagisa still stood, untouched by the beam, while the ground around her
had large gouges dug in it by the attack.  Kawai's body was behind Nagisa, 
so she was safe.

   "Chaos...I will never forgive you." Nagisa said.  The glow around her
started crackling with energy discharges, and started glowing even brighter
than before. 

   The glow exploded into a column of white light that stretched out to the
heavens.  

   The glow faded, and Chaos gasped in shock.  <No, it can't be!>

   A female figure stood there, clad in full plate armor, with wide
shoulder pauldrons, giving the effect of dual blades.  Twin thruster pods
were mounted on the back, while the entire affair was colored a metallic
red and
silver.  There were also six wings jutting from the back-three on each
side-giving
off a faint light.

   From inside the armor, Nagisa gasped in shock.

   <Iczel, what is this.  This isn't what happened last time we tried
this?>

   "I don't know, Nagisa."

   A new voice interrupted them.  <Iczelion Plus configuration online>

   <Nani?  I thought we had the Plus mode the *last* time?>

   "Nagisa?  Now is not the time to discuss it."

   <Right.>

   From the open helmet of the armor, Nagisa looked at Chaos.

   "Because forgiveness, for one such as you, could never be an option!" 

   Then the winged helmet's faceplate closed, and the Iczelion Plus leapt
at Chaos.

   Chaos threw a punch, which the Iczelion Plus dodged, then the Iczelion
Plus punched Chaos in the stomach, which drew some blood (or whatever).  
Chaos retaliated with a kick to the Iczelion's head, which dazed but did
not injure the Iczelion Plus. The two separated and floated back a few
feet.  

   Chaos fired another shockwave at the Iczelion, which, unlike the other
times, was totally unaffected by the blast.  <Well, then,> Chaos thought, 
sensing the enormous power coming off of the transformed Iczelion, 
<If I'm going to die, I'm taking that thing with me!>   

   Chaos then gathered more energy that he had ever before to strike a
massive, ending blow to this impertinent and annoying Iczelion.

   As Chaos prepared to strike, the Iczelion Plus's wings glowed more
fiercely, and energy started to gather in the cupped hands of the Iczelion.

   Inside the armor, Nagisa's thought of only one thing before the two of
them fired.  
	
   <Kawai, I love you.>

   "It ends now, Iczelion!!  DIE!!!!!" Chaos fired the enormous energy beam
at the Iczelion Plus.

   Nagisa said, "Nova...

   The glow of the Iczelion's wings reached a peak, and the energy gathered
in its hands sparked and glowed brighter than the sun...

   "...BEAM!!!!!!!!"

   The Iczelion Plus fired its blast at Chaos's blast.  The two energy
beams met in the center and fought a war for dominance over the other.

   Chaos was sure that the Iczelion would be destroyed.  Imagine his
surprise then when the Iczelion's Nova Beam came stabbing at him, and the
smoke cleared so he could see that the Iczelion Plus was unharmed.  In
fact, in the last few seconds before he was vaporized, Chaos was sure that 

he could see a faint glowing figure superimposed over the Iczelion Plus's
form...a figure with wild blond hair...

   "She has...the spirit...of an Iczer?!?"  That was the last thing Chaos
would ever say as the Nova Beam rent his form to atoms.

   The explosion engulfed the whole area, including the Iczelion Plus.

   Then silence...broken only by a simple thought, echoing through the
silence.

   <Kawai, I love you...>

   Author's Notes:

   Okay, this time I think I got it right.  I usually hate writing combat
scenes, but I think I got the spacing right on this one.  Any comments?

   I noticed in the comments for the last version that there was a
considerable amount of deep reflection at the wrong time.  Now while 
I know the venerable Laws Of Anime (tm) usually prevent most enemies 
from taking advantage of this, I felt a little romp through the dimensions 
would stretch things out just right.  Plus, a "cat and mouse" game would
fit 
in with Chaos's sadistic style.

   Just in case you lost count, here were the dimensions visited:
   
1. A beach.  Plain and simple.

2. Post Third Impact Earth, from the movie End of Evangelion.  I found that
little movie still on a Eva website, and I found it positively chilling.

3. Wait till next part.  <grin>

   I was also influenced by the final battle between Achika and Kain in
Tenchi Muyo In Love!, and both "forgiveness" lines are taken from there. 
(I found out this little tidbit while playing around with my DVD player and
TMiL disc.)

   For the Iczelion Plus, think of a fusion between Nagisa's normal armor,
Iczer-Robo, and Tekkaman Blastor.

   *No*, Nagisa was *not* going SSJ.  I find it very unlikely that DB or
DBZ will ever be a part of the Destiny's Path universe.

   That glowing scene was actually inspired by the final fight scene in the
Fatal Fury movie between Terry and the spirit of the Armor of Mars.  

   Spirit of an Iczer??  Sorry, you'll have to wait till next part.  (Of
course there'll be a next part, are you kidding?)

   Iczelion was created by Hirano Toshihiro/KSS Films and is brought over
the North America by AD Vision (Great bunch of people, even the Eva dub!),
and this story is copyright by me alone and is for entertainment purposes
only.  Plus, I'm also a college student, so I'm perpetually broke.
