Here's an idea and it might have worked if it weren't for the damnable
Musk later in the Ranma 1/2 story.  So, I offer this as an Alternate
Universe Ranma 1/2 idea.
 How about a Jusenkyo where if you fall into a spring, you gain the
form of what fell in before you.  For blank springs, nothing happens to
you.  Now, the idea is that as people continued to fall in, parts of
form would be more and more unusual.  If say a girl fell in first, then
a cat fell in, then a duck fell in, you'd get a winged-catgirl.
 If a rat fell in, then Gendo fell in, you'd get a literal rat-bastard!
 If a rat fell in, then you dropped a lit match in and then you dropped
(pushed/threw/kicked/etc.) Gendo in, you'd get a FLAMING rat-bastard!
 Weird, huh?  I think it's from too much Surge (tm), Coke (tm), Dr.
Pepper (tm) and listening to random songs off the radio.

Considering that insects probably drown in the pools pretty regularly, just
about _all_ the pools would be producting some very bizarre effects.
