Depends on what you're referring to. Most spam threads should be dealt with
via private e-mail. However, C&C on fics is what this list is all about,
and unless the authors have a problem with public C&C, then C&C has every
right to be posted to this list, and discussed. We're here to help other
writers improve their stories, and if comments are posted to the list,
other people are able to pick apart those comments, argue a point, or add
comments of their own...it makes for a sense of community, where certain
things about a fic in particular or similar fics in general can be
discussed and debated. While many such threads tend to degenerate into
spam, many of them prove to be useful to the author of the fic in question,
as well as to other writers in general. It's a forum for thought.

To be brief, the FFML is about fanfics and C&C. It's also, to a lesser
degree, a place for somewhat spammy discussions, so long as they don't
stray too far off-topic or become too violent. It's your prerogative to be
annoyed by the discussions; however, many people enjoy reading and
participating in them. If it bothers you that much, then I suggest sticking
to RAAC, where there is no discussion whatsoever--only fanfics.
