the anime make it true for the series?

Nope.

For one thing, many of us take the manga to be canon. Since Akari is
mentioned in this story, it's manga based or at least a hybrid.

Furthermore, there's the question of whether things are meant to be
taken literally. After all, we probably all agree that Ranma and crew
don't actually have the gigantic eyes that they're drawn with, and there
isn't really a volcano in Kuno's head.
