Overall, I really liked this one. The wealth of vivid sensory detail in
the narrative really made the story live, the suspense level was kept
high, and everybody's actions seemed very reasonable considering the
circumstances. Excellent story!

The only thing I can say I really didn't like was Tojiko. I understand
why she's there, but to me she comes off as nothing more than an ideal
love interest for Kuno. I'd really like to see more development of her
so that she can stand as an interesting character in her own right. If
nothing else, please give her a weird quirk or two.

Now, here's a little speculation. Consider the following chain of events
in the story:

1) Our two castaways get stranded together, their memories both wiped.
Though the setting is haunted by some unknown evil presence, it
nevertheless is in many ways a beautiful place.

2) The inevitable takes place, and eventually Nabby Junior is born.

3) All of the sudden, the island effectively kicks its visitors out, and
they wind up dumped back into the world from which they came.

So... did the power in the island cause all this to happen in order that
it could incarnate itself into a new life form, then escape its pocket
universe and gain access to the unsuspecting world of modern
civilization? Is Nabiki really the arch-fiend? (Baby Nabiki, I mean.)

Just something to think about (or not.)
