Two major complaints here. First of all, too much exposition. I
understand that a certain amount of backstory is necessary for the
readers to understand what follows, and that you have to introduce the
Marvel Universe stuff to people who may not be familiar with it. But is
this much really necessary? Seems to me that no one's going to remember
all of this information unless he's read the comics, and the net effect
(at least for me) was to make reading this story like trudging through a
swamp. A lot of it seemed unnecessarily repetitive, too; how many times
do we need to be told that Spider Girl wants to be a hero, and that her
mother doesn't like it?

Secondly, the characters. I can't really call Ranma OOC, since the
difference in him might be part of the alternate universe premise. But
this Ranma is a lot less interesting (at least to me) than the canon
one. About all this one does is preach about honor, and dispense
political opinions (presumably the author's).


Gary
