Now here is my question for the list.  Why on earth do you people wish to

use

words from a language that you don't understand?!  If you don't know the
words, will your reader?  What is the point of writing a fic that over half
the phrases are lost to your readers level of comprehension?!  Isn't the

point

of the written word to communicate?  If that is your aim and you wish to
communicate with your readers, then do so in ENGLISH!  

I believe that the purpose is to increase the flavor, the feeling of the
original characters.  Isn't the point of a fic to tell a story?  If you
don't know the words, can't you learn from context?  Don't expect us
to believe that you only use words which you learned from a dictionary!
Besides, if it enhances the experience for the readers, especially those
who enjoyed the original series via subtitled edition, what's the big
deal?

	It wont take anything away from your story, it is generally accepted that
most Anime and Manga series take place in Japan and the characters are
speaking Japanese, whether the dialogue is written that way or not.  Even I
myself am guilty of doing this especially in my first chapter of my story and
I am in the process of a rewrite.  I know it is fun to sprinkle these words
through your stories and in doing so parade your intelligence for your
readers, but please do yourself a favor and at the VERY LEAST include a
glossary, or try not to use Japanese words at all ^_^
Just my two cents.

^_^ How hypocritical!  You yourself are 'guilty' of using Japanese words,
yet you advise others not to.  If you know it is fun, why not simply
let other writers have their fun.  You don't have to like it, but
you don't have to denigrate them for it either.

Your advice on terms was, so far, the most extensive.  Kudos.
Your pretension, on the other hand, is also extensive.  Perhaps
you should otituite, ne?  People don't learn without exposure
to new ideas.  Why can't they learn from fics?

Say, what makes you think people know what that means?
Since you use it, does that mean you don't understand it?
Give people some credit.
