Subject: Re: [FFML][Spam]Question about Japanese...
Now here is my question for the list. Why on earth do you people wish to
use
words from a language that you don't understand?! If you don't know the
words, will your reader? What is the point of writing a fic that over half
the phrases are lost to your readers level of comprehension?! Isn't the
point
of the written word to communicate? If that is your aim and you wish to
communicate with your readers, then do so in ENGLISH!
Now..Here's a question.. Since you are apparently the authority on japanese,
why can't we use japanese and ask questions about it? This ML may serve as a
breeding ground for new writers and new ideas, but we also learn here. This
is allows readers and authors alike to broaden horizons. I'm nowhere near
capable of translating half of what is in some of the fanfiction I read but
I can figure it out by common sense and it gives yet another reason to
reread an excellent fic. As far as using words from a language we don't
understand, I'd like to point out that words such as "Hola" and other such
spanish and words from all over the world are used daily in this country and
most likely others, just as japanese use what we call english..So, your
point is basically moot.
