more than twice, three times, but you only get it hinted at at the end

I'd rather not see cliche-filled fics at all. And I DID encourage the
author to keep writing. What I'm *not* gonna do is lie and tell her that
I liked the fic when I didn't. That might be depressing, but it's the
truth.

Um... Gary?

The multiple-fiancee thing is canon - in the anime. If I count correctly,
there are at least four Genma-made engagements shown in the anime - two in
the Kaori episode alone - with more implied.

Hate to break it to you, but most people don't have the combination of
time, money, resources, and education to get and use all 38 tanks. To
them, the anime IS canon, and the characterizations formed by such should
at least be respected. That might be depressing to you, but it's the truth.

I suspet that this is going to be a banned thread... but I want to put my two
cents in. (if they are worth anything of course.)
I tend to put WHAT sources I am using in the fic so people know what verison I
am using.. (Good exp. In the SM manga.. the Four Generals/Guardians were the
past life lovers of the Inners. while in the anime and the Mixxzine verison (at
least not yet.) they weren't) I tend to base my stories off one verison, but I
do have other information dropping in (once again.. SM is a good point the so
called US ver "Doom Tree" anime run DID not take place in the manga (don't know
if Mixxzine is going to get the creator to do that for the run) but some people
use it and some don't, even if they are following the manga line. {I recall,
could be wrong on this, that the Anime Doom Tree run was to allow the manga to
cacth up with the anime... If I am wrong tell me.}) Ranma anime and manga is
closer than SM (so far the closest that I can tell is the manga and anime
verisons of Magic Knights Rayearth.) but there are changes... So if you find
diff. in the verison that the author is using, compared to what you think is
canon...
Ask yourself these three questions.
One. Is this based off the Anime or Manga (in some cases ask if it is the US
verisons of the two... SM, and Ranma have been changed b/t the translations in
both. (SM worse in the anime... *shiver*)
Two. Is this needed for the Fiction? (ie plot deivce?) or is it something the
author just stuck it so he or she could?
Three. Is this a "alt. History." story?
Once you ask those three questions... Then make comments about canon or not...
(Most of the Elseworlds are NOT canon, and same with Byran's work... but that
does NOT make them bad fics now does it?)
What I suggest is that authors (inc. me, I did do this for a unrel. SM fic I
wrote. but I don't remeber if I did for starmage.) put what source they are
using, and where in the timeline. Also that they place what type of fic it is
(div., alt. history/real., cont. etc..) This does make it easier on people to
do good CC on (and Gary DOES do good CC... even if it is neg. {Think of it as
remarks on your first or second draft... not the final.}) and doesn't confuse
people who are expecting a "diff" canon... Like Gary who thought it was based
(At least I HOPE so. BTW, he made no comments regarding my fic being canon or
not canon... he knew it was a alt. realtly fic.) off the Manga (which verison I
do not know.)
Andrew Norris
(Plus this also helps people figure out if they want to read the fic... It's
kinda like a book cover... With all the fiction out there, it would help... Now
to follow my own adivce... *Grin*)
