Personally, I think some of these couples might have potential (of course,
this comes from the guy who specializes in Ten-Kiyo fics, but still...).
	I'll make a statement then say no more on the subject.  There is 
nothing wrong with writing a fict exploring how relationships could be 
shifted from the foundation of the source matterial, the reason that most 
stories keep to the cannon relationships is because their writen to explore 
other concepts.  IE, if you wrote a Ranma fict where Ranma mastered the Cat 
fist, if you also wanted to make Ranma fall in love with Kodachi that would 
require a great deal more lead in to minamise the incredulity when in 
happened.  By maintaining the status quo from the Manga you would be able to 
dive right into the main concept with minimal lead in.  My take on in 
anyways.
