I disagree a little.  Script format assumes a visual
medium to flesh out what the script leaves blank.
Without said visual medium, there's an essential
portion missing.

As I said privately, Richard -- an endless number of
*literature* classes, from grade school through
university, manage to do just fine discussing
any number of plays *as literature*, with no reference
to actual performances. Funny, that. :)

What's funny about that?

You can study nuclear fission without actually handling any
plutonium.

You can study plays without actually having to see them
performed.

Doesn't change the fact that they were written to be performed -
that the performance of the words as written is a key element of
the works.
