I've got it! 
The mystery person is none other than......Miyo, the cute fortune teller 
girl (who's cousin is Kiki of 'Kiki's Delivery Servace'). 
Being a Mystic, and such, she understands Ranma is upset over his curse, 
and is the one person he can confide in without fear of being hit, 
beaten, laughed at, made fun of, or any other not-nice thing. After she 
showed up and did her bit of giving Akane the stuff to help Happosai and 
such (ugh..Akane in the kitchen), she had nothing better to do, so she 
developed a crush on Ranma, then loved formed from that. And there you 
have it, boys and girls, and aquatranssexuals.
