This isn't, probably, a good idea. But this is set after the battle with
Zeruel(I think that's how it's spelled) and Shinji's subsequent
'eviction' from the Eva.

If anyone takes it up, it's going to have a MAJOR effect on subsequent
events- mostly, the battle with Kaworu.

Partly, it came from the possibility that parts of the Eva could be
'assimilated' into the pilot. Now read on...

Shinji came to slowly, the light hurting his eyes. He tried to shield
them with his hand, but couldn't. Looking down, he found the reason for
this.

He was in restraints. Wrists and ankles cuffed to the bed.

Looking round, he saw that there were cameras all round him. And then he
noticed that he had a crushing pain in his stomach.

Gendou Ikari looked Ritsuko full in the face. "It is him, then?"

"Definitely," Ritsuko nodded. "Apart from his new... equipment, he's
fine. No biochemical changes, no mental contamination. But I believe we
should prevent Shinji from piloting from now on."

"Why so?"

Ritsuko sighed. "The scanning systems we've used show extreme
disturbances in his Kirlian field. It's more orange tnan the standard
red we normally emit. And there have been what can only be described as
paranormal events in the ward he's in."

Gendou frowned. "Paranormal? Explain."

"There have been disturbances. Poltergeist activity. Things moving
about. Lights turning themselves on and off." Ritsuko waved her hands
vaguely, trying to emphasise something even she wasn't sure about. "Odd
things."

Gendou leaned back, thinking deeply. Maybe he and his son didn't get on,
but this had to be dealt with. Soon. Suddenly Ritsuko's cell 'phone
bleeped.

"Moshi-Moshi? Okay, I'll be right down." She turned the phone off, and
looked at Gendou. "Your son is loose, and panicking. He's found out
what's happened to him."

"For God's sake, get that Baton round here!" The orderly was panicking.
This was a fourteen-year-old, not a psychopath. But twelve guards were
down already, none dead. How?

"Here, sir." The modified shotgun was pushed into his hands, just as
Shinji turned the corner. They could see the red sphere buried in his
stomach. The gun was raised, and Shinji kept walking. The gun cracked,
once, and the round bounced off an octagonal, reddish-orange plate that
formed in front of Shinji as he advanced down the corridpor...

Maybe a good idea? I don't know.

This looks cool. I'd like to do this with a twist: Shinji reprising the
role of Tetsuo in Akira!

Now THAT'D be cool.
