Well, it's Happy New Year +01:22:00 hours here, so I might as well post a fic
I had completed recently. Strangely, it fits the holida, in a way...

A Ranma 1/2 Fanfiction:
Jusenkyo Reborn

It had begun here.

He did not know at that time, but his life had begun when he visited this
place. Throughout the last year, he had cursed the place for his misfortune
and he did not fully appreciate his fortune of having come across it.

Ranma tossed a piece of a rock over the ledge he was sitting on. He watched it
land in one of the hundreds of cursed pools of Jusenkyo region.

His life had changed here, at the Jusenkyo pools, nearly a year ago. It had
all been because of his damned father, who had dragged him off on yet another
'trainning' mission. He couldn't even read Chinese, let alone understand the
warnings posted around the cursed place. And he paid for his mistake as he was
later knocked into the Nyanniichuan, the spring of Drowned Girl.

>From now on, he was cursed to turn into a girl whenever he was splashed with
cold water. Fortunately, hot water reversed the curse. Ever since, he had
always cursed his luck being cursed with a body of a girl. How in the world
was he supposed to become a man amongst man with a body of a girl? At least
his father suffered same punishement, and was cursed as a panda. How fitting
for him.

Afterards he had more adventures during the year than he had in past decade of
his life. He ended up being enaged to three (not includling that crazed girl
that he didn't like), trainned under two of the best martial artists (but not
without a share of trouble from them), went on numerous journeys, fought
against some of the most powerful opponets and finally fell into love with a
girl named Akane.

And watched his love die in his arms. He had fought so hard for her, and even
killed a god to bring Akane back to living. He was so close, but it was too
late. So close...

"Akane..."

He cried again, as he had done for days since Akane's death. He had ran off
from the battle with Akane's body into wilderness. He vaguely recalled burying
her body, and stumbling around amilessly until reaching Jusenkyo before
finally sobering up.

Since it had begun here in the Jusenkyo, it should be fitting that it end here
for him as well.

Having made his decision, he stood up and spread his arms wide to face the
chilling wind. As his feet lifted off the rocky ledge, he whispered to the
wind, "I love you, Akane..."

There was a mildly loud splash, then the eternal silence claimed the region
again.

The next day, a new sign was added to the list of cursed pools, and one of the
pools bubbled lightly, almost as if in approval. Another pool next to it
affirmed its agreement. A new Legend would be added to the long list of
already tragic Legends of Jusenkyo pools. It was a new one, but it would be
forever told and retold, passed down through the generations as love-struck
and -stricken couples visited these pools.

A very tragic Legend, VERY tragic, of a couple who drowned before they could
admit their love to each other. There was a rumor that every year, on the
anniversary of the drownings, both pools would bubble. When they did, the
ghosts of the couple would materilize and try to be reunited with each other.
They efforts would fail every time as they stumble over their words and end up
misinterpreting each other. Soon they would resort to insults, then return to
the pools in hopes that they might be lucky next time.

I honestly have no idea where this idea came from, but I do know that this
idea had inspired one of the most original Ranma fanfic idea I've ever come
across, and I'm working on it at this moment, though awaiting a coauthor and
prereaders.

Ranma 1/2 and its associated characters belongs to Rumiko Takahashi, and I do
not own them. I am only writing this fanfic for fun and for readers.
