  Actually, for a weapons officer, I think I might.  Please hear me out on
this.  From what I have heard, speaking to veterans and all, it seems that
fighter pilots, AA missle crews, artillery men, and tankers are better
able to distance themselves from their targets, and feel less guilt, on
average, than the grunts.  Why?  Because they are destroying vehicles, or
never even see what they are shooting at.  Even the tankers rarely see the
crews of the vehicles they destroy.  Where as your average rifleman, who's
weapon is designed to take out a dismounted soldier, really sees the
person he is killing.  
   By that thought process, a gunner or weapons officer who has distance
from his target, who sees it only as a ship, or even just a blip on a
screen, might be less hesitant to fire.  It makes a cleaner, more sanitary
battle.  Less guilt about all the people you just incerated, lacerated, or
whatever.
