Gee, my first post, and it's a reply to something...
Hi! Everybody!
Alright, alright, whilst I know that this is a spamfic (gotta love 'em),
an interesting question is brought up. Is crying out the name of the
attack (bakusai tenketsu) REALLY necessary to finish the move?
I was always of the opinion that it was the honourable thing to do, to
give ones opponent an opportunity to counter-attack. But, if the
villain truly wanted to hurt/maim/kill/utterly-destroy their opponent,
why call it out and take the chance the good guy would already know the
counter?
Just a question.

No, crying the name of an attack is not neccessary. Ranma does not always cry out attack names when he uses them (Example - watch the second Ranma movie.) Cologne and Happosai only uses attack cries when their gloating.
The pourpose of screaming out the name of the attack, from what I can tell, is as a concentration trick. These special attacks require the user to martial energies - either internal or external - to perform. Useing an attack cry seems to be a method for focusing that energy faster.
Or, of course, I could be completly wrong, and they just do it to sound cool... ^^;;;
Hope this helps,
