[Camera swings into the Mental Library(tm), where Tommy is discussing
martial arts with Ranma and Ryouga. Cerina and LilTigre are busy
playing FFVII on the computer.]
Tommy: ...so, how do you get such height when you jump?
Ranma: *shrugs* Channel ki to your legs and feet to help propel ya. At
least that's what Dr. Tofu says.
[A siren goes off; everyone in the room pauses.]
Ryouga: Huh? What's that?
Cerina: It's the new alarm system- we've got a fic to review! [whips
out a megaphone] PLACES, EVERYONE!

Chapter 1: The ties that bind
[Tommy, Cerina, and LilTigre whip out earplugs; all of a sudden, loud
screaming can be heard as the Library begins shaking.]
Ranma: WHAT WAS THAT?
Ryouga: WHAT?
Ranma: [pauses until the commotion dies down] What *was* that?
Cerina: That was the author jumping for joy - there's finally another
BlueSeed fic writer out there.
Ryouga: [cups his hand to his ear] WHAT DID YOU SAY?
[Cerina baps him on the head with a UNIX manual.]
note: mitama- the blue seed-like objects that contain the soul and
power of
an individual Aragami.
Kusangi has eight of these, as did Murokomo did, one of
which was
formerly
Momiji's.
Ranma: Murakumo got Momiji's mitama?
Tommy: No, Kusanagi did. That sentence up there's a little unclear.
It was raining gently as a man walked through a park in Tokyo.
He
looked around him, the
darkness masking the damage to the building of the
Cerina: Plural- should be 'buildings'.
Tommy: You are so anal about nitpicky stuff like that, you know?
[Cerina pounds him through the floor with her chair.]
Tommy: I... tai....
surrounding city. Tokyo
had suffered an
enormous amount of damage when the Aragami had tried to destroy all
the
people in Japan. They
had been stopped, but thousands had died and the city had suffered a
lot of
property damage.
Ranma: Kinda repetitive to mention the property damage again- ya might
wanna cut that out.
Mamoru Kusanagi stopped and stared up at the stars. The
Aragami had
LilTigre: Star light, star bright....
been stopped
because of one person. Momiji. It was odd to think of the power that
Momiji carried in her
blood, since she was so sweet and downright perky all of the time. A
Ranma: Yeah, she was nice enough to get P-chan here back on the set
when he got lost going to the bathroom.
Ryouga: [glowing] Ranma....
Tommy: And that was gratuitous plug #1 for the author's megacrossover.
wistful smile cracked across
Kusanagi's face as he though about the girl he had sworn to protect.
His
life had changed
drastically since she came into it and he wasn't sure what to do.
He had
Cerina: [lecherous grin] Oh, I'll be *glad* to help you out,
Kusanagi-chan....
LilTigre: But, Oneechan, didn't they ban you from the fanfic sets when
Kusanagi-kun is working?
[Tommy starts laughing as Cerina fumes.]
Cerina: Don't say a word...
Ranma: What?
LilTigre: Tommy-niichan says they banned Oneechan 'cause she wants to
show Kusanagi-kun her birthday suit.... But, Cerina-neechan, you don't
own any suits!
[The guys start laughing... until Cerina punts them all into LEO.]

Kaede all his life, but she had turned against everything he
believed in
and had helped the Aragami
in their bid to try and destroy humanity. 'For the
Cerina: I'd love to throw Kaede into the Urotsokidoji world for a
while- stupid little shirigaru....

she said, he thought bitterly.
Cerina: This sentence should read "'For the good of the planet,' she
said," he thought bitterly.
Those monsters just wanted to take control of everything again.
When Kaede
had disappeared,
the mitama had lead him to the other Princess Kushinada, Momiji.
[Tommy and the others land with a thud head-first into their chairs.]
Cerina: [sweetly] What took you boys so long?
Kusanagi's smile widened as he thought about the times he had
shared
with Momiji. All of
the fights that he had to save her in and, most of all, how he had
felt
when she told him that she
loved him.
[Cerina and LilTigre sigh; the boys make gagging noises.]
Since he had lost Kaede, Kusanagi had closed off his heart. He
had never wnated to
feel that kind of pain again, but somehow, this perky little girl had
cracked open his shell and made
a plce for herself in the confines of his heart.
Ranma: Why do we gotta read this mushy stuff?
[Cerina morphs to dragon mode and starts growling at him.]
Cerina-dragon: Because I SAID SO!
Kusanagi's smile faded as he thought. How could someone like
Momiji
love him, he
thought darkly. After all, he wasn't human. Not any
Ryouga: You really need to mark thoughts off with some sort of
punctuation, like *thought* or <thought>.
more. Not since he
had been a small child
and Orochi had given him seven of his mitama. He had become
something else
that day, when he
had been charged with the protection of the Kushinadas. Something
that
wasn't human. How
Cerina: Maybe not human, but *damn,* that man is HOT!
[The guys groan and roll their eyes.]
could a freak like him ever know love. No, he thought. It's better
that I
stay away from Momiji.
She doesn't need a freak like me ruining her life...
Cerina: You can come ruin *my* life-
[The guys dogpile her; when they back off, she's been hogtied and
gagged.]
Tommy: That's enough sexual innuendo from you today.
Kusanagi stood there, staring at the stars a few moments longer
before
sighing deeply and
turning to leave the park.
LilTigre: Note from the author: Nice emotion.

Momiji rubbed her eyes sleepily as she stared at the sunlight
pouring
in through the
window. It had been almost six months since she had released the
power
locked in her blood and
destroyed the Aragami. Still, Tokyo and most of the other major
cities in
Japan had been nearly
destroyed and had suffered devestating losses of human life. Momiji
had
Ryouga: Didn't he say all that stuff about Tokyo getting trashed
already?
Ranma: Yup.
blamed herself for the
deaths for a long time, but Mr. Kunikida and his new wife Ryoko had
managed
to make her
realize that she had done everything she could and that she wasn't
to blame
for their deaths, the
Aragami were.
Tommy: Damn straight. Stupid plant-thingies....
Ranma: 'Plant-thingies'? Man, you *really* need to work on the
vocabulary...
Momiji stretched to get the kinks out of her back. She was still
living at Mr. Kunikida's
house, since her mother and grandmother had been victims of the
Aragami in
the final fight.
Momiji had been devestated when Mr. Kunikida had broken the news
about her
family's death,
[Cerina, who's managed to slip out of her restraints, steps up and
conks the guys in the head.]
Cerina: Macho jerks. That's gotta be a bummer though; you die for a
bunch of people that hate your guts, and your parents die too. I know
how that feels.
but she had come to accept it like she had the deaths of all the other
Aragami's victims. The only
thing that was still bothering her was Kusanagi's absence.
Cerina: Wait a sec, Tigger, there's somethin' I don't understand; how
come you know so much about what's going on on the fanfic sets?
LilTigre: Chibi-Chibi-chan plays with me when ya'll are busy, and
Kusanagi-kun pets me sometimes....
Cerina: He *holds you IN HIS LAP* and pets you? Aaaugh! Why can't I be
that lucky? WHY?!?!??
Kusanagi had been missing for the last two weeks and Momiji was
worried. He had barely
left her side when she had been wracked with misplaced guilt. She had
cried herself to sleep on
his chest so many times. When she had finally come
Tommy: Not a word from you, Cerina.
Cerina: What?
to terms with herself,
she had told Kusanagi
that she had loved him. And then he had disappeared.
Ranma: Smart move. Don't want anymore freakin' fiancees than you can
handle, buddy.
Ryouga: Hoew dare you lead those women on that way! Ranma, PREPARE TO
DIE!!
[Cerina and Tommy roll their eyes as the two begin fighting on the
floor.]
Momiji was afraid. Did something happen to him, she asked
herself, or
does he just not
love me? Maybe that's it, she told herself. After all, I'm only
seventeen
and he's in his twenties.
All: NANI??
Cerina: I think you've got your chronology wrong here. Kusanagi was an
infant when the Aragami enslaved him; take a look at the flashback
sequences. He can't be over a year old. And if the Aragami took him
after the birth of the Kushinadas, then he's about a year older than
she is. And Momiji was fifteen at the beginning of the series; the
official series guide states that. The manga is the same, except
Kusanagi-chan was cuter in the manga as a baby.
Tommy: Cerina, you *really* need to get a life.
I'm too young for him, and then there's Kaede, she thought glumly.
Kaede,
her older sister who
had betrayed humanity for the Aragami. Kaede, who had been the woman
Kusanagi had loved all
his life. She sighed as she climbed out of bed.
Ranma: I don't get why he loves Kaede; she's a loser.
Ryouga: For once, I agree with you.
Cerina: [to Tommy] Did Hell just freeze over?
There was nothing she
could do about it until she
found Kusanagi again. She hoped desparately that he would come
back. If
he didn't, she wasn't
sure what she would do. She couldn't imagine what her life would be
like
without him anymore.
LilTigre: Boring?
Cerina: Something like that.
Momiji got dressed and made her way down to the kitchen, where
Ryoko
had beakfast
ready for her and Mr. Kunikida. It still felt weird having Ryoko
around
the house. Momiji had
been surprised when she had found out that Ryoko had been in love
with Mr.
Kunikida, and even
more surprised when they had gotten married shortly after the end of
the
Aragami threat. If only
[Cerina starts humming the wedding march; Ranma clutches his chair and
begins looking around him frantically.]
Ranma: I sure hope Shampoo or Kodachi don't come in here now...
Kusanagi felt the way she did, Momiji thought, her eyes misting over
slightly as she ate her
breakfast.
Cerina: Don't worry too much; he loves you, even if he is a bit anal
about telling you. [pauses] He's kinda like you, Ranma.
Ranma: Hey!
The government was spending itself dry trying to repair the
damage
down to the country
by the Aragami. Enormous sums of money had flooded into the country
from
the UN and other
international relief funds and contractors from around the world had
flocked to Japan to bid on the
lucrative reconstruction contracts. The TAC had been
Cerina: This sentence really needs to be cut down into two sentences;
it's too long to stand as a whole.

a new agency to run to ensure that nothing like the Aragami invasion
occurred again. Ryoko,
Momiji and Yaegashi still worked with Mr. Kunikida. Kome had gone
back to
the army and had
risen several grades in rank (many officers of command rank having
been
canned for
incompetence during the Aragami Incident) and Matsudiera had been
needed
more working with
the medical relief agency that the government had established.
Ryouga: I thought Koume and Yaegashi were dating at the end of the
series.
Tommy: That's what I thought....
The drive into Tokyo wasn't a pleasant one. Momiji watched as
the
carcasses of the giant
plants and the corpses of the victims of the mitama reign that the
plants
had sprayed were cut up
and loaded into trucks destined for the city's waste incinerators and
funerary incinerators. She
All: Eeewww......
Cerina: That sentence really needs reconstruction; it's repetitive and
a bit confusing.
could also see the surveying and demolition teams, busy deciding which
buildings were stable
enough to just repair and which building had to be torn down and
cleared.
Perhaps it was a concession by the government, or just a
lingering
doubt of the people
about the validity of the claims by the Arigami that humans were
destroying
Japan, but more areas
were being set aside for parks and the shrines and temples had more
land
given to their care.
LilTigre: About damn time.
Cerina: [shocked] Tigger!
LilTigre: But that's what Tommy-niichan says when-
[Cerina *glares* at Tommy, who edges away from her.]
Tommy: Hey, you're the one who taught her to cuss in Japanese.....
Momiji sighed as she thought about the day ahead of her. It would
be just
like the last two weeks.
She would be working with Yaegashi to set up a computer database
that would
monitor every law
agency in the country, looking for odd occurences that could be
supernatural in origin for them to
investigate. She wondered if she would ever be just a schoolgirl
again.
Ranma: Nope. Ain't nobody in anime ever that lucky.
Tommy: I guess this means Yaegashi will still be able to keep tabs on
Momiji's panties-
Ryouga: *blushes*
Ranma: Naw, that's Kusanagi. Yaegashi's the hentai computer game guy.
Cerina: [rolls her eyes] Boys....
Just a year ago, she had
been a perfectly normal junior high student with nothing bigger on
her mind
than school and
getting a boyfriend. Now she had been responsible for the fate of
Japan,
and was now a part of
ensuring its continuing safety. It would be a lot
Cerina: You need to get rid of the 'Now' at the beginning of the
sentence, i.e. "She had been...."
more bearable if only
she had Kusanagi with her.
He had always been so strong before when he had rescued her. It was
almost
enough to make her
long for the days of the constant Aragami attacks. At least then,
Kusanagi
had been there for her.
Ryouga: *sighs* Like I will always be there for Akane...
Ranma: How? You can't even find your way out of a paper sack!
[Cerina bangs their heads together.]
Cerina: If ya wanna fight, take it outside. I'm not cleaning up after
you again.
* * *
Mamoru Kusanagi sighed as he dug through the rubble in front of
him.
He stood on a
street full of shattered buildings, digging into the front of an old
house. He remembered this place
fondly. This was where he had been born. This was where he had
lived for
a few happy years
before Orochi stole his life and his humanity. Since
Cerina: See note on chronology above. He knew that place for a year at
the most- although considering his Aragami-given powers, it wouldn't
surprise me if he *did* have a photographic memory that reaches that
far back.
Tommy: Are you done, Professor?
then, he'd been a
slave of his mitamas and his
duty (and later desire) to protect the Kushinadas.
LilTigre: Slavery's bad, right?
Cerina: [sighs] Yeah, it is, kiddo.
Ryouga: [to Tommy] What's wrong with her?
Tommy: Long story.... let's just say she knows how it fels to be a
slave and leave it at that, ok?
As Kusanagi cleared the rubble, he came upon an old, rusted
lockbox.
Ranma: That was quick.
Cerina: Something leading up to this would be nice; some description,
flashbacks, etc.
He pulled it free,
setting it clear of the rubble. Carefully, so as not to disturb the
contents, he pried the top off.
Inside were a bundel of papers and a small book. Looking through the
papers, he found receipts
and bills dating back years, with the family name Kusanagi on them.
He
Tommy: And his family still hasn't paid off their credit card bills yet.
[The others groan and throw their empty soda cans at him.]
smiled slightly, realizing
tha he had found something of his family after all these years. He
looked
at the book, curious,
noting its plain black cover. He flipped it open and read the first
page,
his eyes growing wide.
Cerina: I didn't know he could re-
[A giant dot-matix printer pops up out of nowhere and conks her on the
head.]
Mysterious Voice: Dammit, Cerina, that's a spoiler!
Cerina: [eyes unfocused] Yesh, ma'am.... lookit the purty birdies....
August 18
I found out I was pregnant today. Kentaro
was so excited. He's been wanting a child
since we got married, but he never put any
pressure on me. I'm glad it finally happened
too. I have wanted a child for the past year.
Ever since Reiko had her baby.
Ranma: Oe Kintaro is his dad?!? Now wonder he's so screwed up!
Ryouga: That's 'KENtaro,' Ranma.
Ranma: Oh.
December 12
We've been talking about names. Mamoru if it's
a boy,
Keiko if it's a girl.
March 3
I feel like a balloon. I'm due next month.
Kentaro asked if I wanted to get a sonogram
to find out the sex. I told him no.
I want to find out when my baby's born.
April 19
I delivered two days ago. I'm so happy. I'm
exhausted,
but all the pain and effort was
worth it. Oh, I love my little Keiko.
All: Nani?!?!?
LilTigre: Kusanagi-kun has a big sister?
Tommy: I guess so... now this is interesting.
Kusanagi stared in shock as he read his mother's journal. I
have a
sister, he thought to
himself, stunned at this unexpected revelation.

Ryouga: In other words, he asks the TAC to help him find her, right?
Ranma: Well, duh, P-chan.
Ryouga: RANMA!!!! Prepare to DIE!!!
[A huge ki fight erupts on the floor; Cerina rolls her eyes and turns
to Tommy.]
Cerina: What do you think? We're not going to get any help from those
two....
Tommy: Not bad... needs some more description, some grammar
correction, but it's an interesting plot to see how they handle the
news... and how Momiji and Kusanagi's relationship will turn out.
Cerina: I wonder what his sister will think to know she's got a
demonic plant for a brother- Ow!
[LilTigre whaps her with a squeaky toy.]
LilTigre: Kusanagi-kun's not a demon... I don't think.
Tommy: Anyway, that's it for us. Nice show; we'll be looking forward
to the next part.
[The camera fades out as the group tries to pry the feuding Ranma and
Ryouga apart.]
