Okay. You asked for it.

Oh, For God's Sake! Part 2

As normal, I woke up with a strange sense of foreboding.

I live in interesting times, and generally, waking up for me means
something bad is about to happen
(like the infamous 'Crow in the airing cupboard crapping all over my
clothes' incident).

Still, I seemed to be in luck. I was looking straight up into the eyes
of a beautiful woman.

Further evaluation proved that my Sean Yseault poster over my bed had
fallen again.

I must get something stronger to hold it on with.

Aaanyhow, it was a Friday, meaning that I didn't have to be in
University until Noon.

So I stayed in bed for a bit.

"STOPPIT!"

I opened an eye, and looked at the door. That screanm was definitely
Fiona. I didn't want to know what was going on, but since Jessica had
turned up, life had been interesting. For example, she had magically
rigged the taps to pour lager on command- redirecting the pipes from
the pub next door.

Two drunken days later, we found out that the pub was in debt due all
the beer disappearing. I forced Jessica (somehow- don't ask me how) to
sort it all out. She muttered something about Yggdrassil and disappeared
for a day.

To cut a long story short, I got up, and went to see what was going on.
My sister HAD to have something to do with this.

Not directly.

But it WAS to do with a young woman.

A rather good-looking young woman, at that.

One who had a couple of odd diagonal marks on her face, above her
eyebrows.

She also was at the centre of a storm of cutlery, crockery and CD's in
the Kitchen.

"Ah," She said. "Just who I wanted to see."

Now THAT was unexpected. Young women tend to ignore me. I immediately
reached up to finger the pendant that I'd been given. (And if you'd read
the previous chapter, you'd know that it supposedly summons armour and a
weapon, to protect my sister with- until she learns to use a weapon of
some sort herself.)

"Now, now, you don't need that," The woman said, shaking her head. "I
just want to inform you that your sister has caused havoc. There's an
interesting thing in the world called the doublet system..." And she
continued to tell myself and Fiona what the Doublet System was about.

"But what's the problem? The Demons can't kill her, as one of you will
die..." I trailed off as I saw her expression.

"Unfortunately, no. You see, due to her slip of the tongue, your sister
has been formed without a doublet. She's open game for the demons...
until the ultimate force forms a new demon."

"I see. So why are you telling me all this?"

"Because I'm the one assigned to watch over you, individually. And I
know how much losing a brother hurt you."

"I see. So you're my gaurdian angel?"

She looked a little, sad, and gave a bit of a laugh. "Sort of. Well,
I've got to go."

"Wait! What's your name?"

She turned round, and looked at me. "Mara." Then she vanished.

The cutlery, crockery and CD's plummeted to the floor, and woke everyone
else in the street up.

University. A point where everything can go one way or another.

I can't work out where my life is going at the minute, in all honesty.

Aside from that, I got lunch in the cafeteria, and went to type some
stuff up on the computers. Yet again my sister turned up.

She really is irresponsible. She'd been in the Carribean for two days,
and had an unbelievable tan.

"Hihi Matthew! Do you think Lee will like me like this?"

I sighed. "Jessica, Lee doesn't want you in any way. You're wasting your
time."

She pouted. "I may be able to influence him with my powers." Then she
grinned. "I learnt a new spell!" Turning, she began to chant.

"Darkness from twilight,
 Crimson from blood that flows..."

 I knocked her over.

"OY! What was that for?"

"Jessica, where did you find that spell?"

"I was reading your Slayers fanfics."

I sighed. "First, it's a fictional spell. Second, it's horrifically
destructive. Thirdly... in your state, you might actually be able to
cast it. I like this university."

"Oh." She seemed a bit deflated. "Seeya!" And she jumped towards a
drain, and warped away to chase something in trousers.

I hadn't had a chance to tell her about what had happened. And my
forehead was itching.

Oh well. I just had to wait for the shooting and squeaking to begin.

*****

It had to happen.

I was wearing my armour- black, green and red Samurai armour- and
weilding the Katana. But this demon was big, orange, and bristling with
nasty spells and weapons.

It wanted Jessica.

Over my [deleted][deleted][excised][apalling obscenity] dead body!

And it looked like that's the way it was going to have to be.

Then a bright beam of light blasted over my shoulder.

"Foul fiend! We are the magical battle babes team Maes-Yr-Eglws!"

I looked round to see Fiona wearing a Sailor fuku, and clutching a
candy-striped and far too cute wand.
Behind her was Bethan, Becky, Ceri and Katherine.

"I am Sailor K-block, and I punish you in the name of the University of
Glamorgan!"

At that point, I woke up in a cold sweat.

Obviously, liver, cheese and chilli sandwiches aren't a good thing to
eat before going to bed.

*****

The next morning, Mara appeared again.

I wish she'd give me some warning... And not appear when I'm in the
shower. That sort of thing can play havoc with a young man.

"I've got some good news and some bad news."

"Yes, Mara?" I said, somewhat angrily knotting my dressing-gown around
my waist.

"Firstly, someone has been selected as her doublet, and as normal, we
don't know who. The bnad news is that this person will not become a
demon until tomorrow, so expect an attempt on her life today. Ciao!"

This was not good, I reflected, as Mara left. This would be tricky.

*****

As I expected, it never rains but it pours. The attack came a couple of
minutes after we'd settled down for lunch. Not good, by any means.

"Right, fiend, you've HAD IT!"

I grabbed my pendant, and called the armour into being. In a burst of
cheesy music, and rather silly sparkles, my armour appeared.

I HAD to get Jessica to arrange more appropriate music.

And then the clashing of swords and casting of spells began.

There was something about this guy that was nagging at me. And my
forehead was itching like crazy.

The battle went down the road, as people came out to cheer. both of us
on. Actually, they cheered HIM on, as he looked like a normal human
being, whilst I was a masked and armoured monstrosity.

That was it.

Normal Human being.

He had marks like Mara did.

"FORCE BOLT!"

I dodged that, and tripped the demon up, and used my own blast from my
sword.

"HA-KA-BI!"

A gout of energy blasted from the end of the sword, and struck the demon
head on. He looked absolutely terrified as it sped towards his chest...

*pop*

Pop? POP? With a bolt like that there should have been a massive
explosion, not a pop and a puff of smoke!

The demon stood up. Did he look pissed.

Then I remembered the meaning of the sword's name.

'Sword of the Damp Squib."

Now I was in trouble.

I realised I was in even more trouble when I saw my sister hovering over
the buildings. She started chanting, and I grew pale, as it seemed to be
working.

"Darkness from Twilight,
Crimson from blood that flows,
Buried in the flow of time,
In thy great name,
I pledge myself to darkness!
Those who oppose us shall
Be destroyed by the power
You and I posess!
DRAGON SLAVE!"

*KABOOOM*

When the smoke cleared, there was a crater where the demon had been.

The houses weren't in a good state either.

*****

Later that day, I had another visitor.

"Congratulate your sister for me. I still can't believe she slew that
guy."

"Cut the crap, Mara. You're a demoness, aren't you?"

She looked away. "How'd you guess?"

"The marks. They're not hard to miss." Again, I was in the bathroom,
trying to see what the itching on my head was being caused by. It was
strange, but the itchy patches were over my eyes...

"Matthew, I Have to tell you... I'm the reason for all your bad luck. I
didn't like to do it, and I don't like doing it. But it's my job. And...
I've grown fond of you."

I ignored what she was saying. "Mara? Do you know who the demon will
be?"

"No..."

"Well look at this."

I turned round, and showed mara the itchy patches, which were red from
scratching. She gasped, and put a hand over her mouth.

"Oh, Kami," she said. "There's a mistake somewhere."

EOP2.

Well, howsabout THAT for a surprise ending?
