I would just assume that their durability depends upon the author of the
story you are reading. Some authors like to stay more on the realistic side
of things. I wrote "Murphy's Law" and most of "Battle Chess" with the
characters more human and less anim-ish. During "Battle Chess", I decided
to relax more. "Double Trouble" has a bit more of the anime magic. Other
authors also like to play on the "Anime Laws of Physics", or even poke fun
at the idea by exaggerating it. If you want the cannon information,
characters in Ranma 1/2 (like other anime characters and 'toons in general)
can survive being at ground zero of a small explosion. Check out any
episode that shows Happosai's fire bombs. There's also one where Mouse
chains Ranma to a large bomb. Mouse ends up being at ground zero in duck
form, and suvives (he even has most of his feathers). Even though Nerima is
strangely devoid of car traffic (especially for being so close to Tokyo), I
would think an accident/injury would go something like this:

Ranma didn't see the car approach. He didn't hear the horn, either,
since he was too busy fuming over what Akane had said. He only turned in
time to see the car, all four wheels locked, slide into him, smashing him
into the wall. He pulled himself out of the Ranma-shaped impression in the
brick and stepped to the right side of the car. He looked inside at the
driver, who was sporting a steering-wheel impression on his chest. The
driver stared into space, dazed. Ranma knocked on the window, asking, "Are
you ok?"

Subject: [FFML] Questions

I question has been really naggin at me for quite awhile.

Just how strong and durable are Ranma and Ryouga?
In some fanfics, they can be killed by cars, trucks, and bullets.
However given the description of their stamina and strength in the manga
and
anime, they should be able to withstand such attacks or at least dodge
them.

Can anyone actually prove them Ranma or Ryouga can be killed by a car
hitting
them or by getting shot?
