So she's making diamonds out of them? Seriously, though, that's about the
only thing out there which IS held in one piece by chemical bonds. Anything
else, it's friction between individual grains, effective suspension...
certainly not chemical bonding in the true sense of the word. Maybe make
references to welding or to leaving the chi backbone intact, but ain't
nothing on EARTH that can break chemical bonds with physical force.
Excepting, perhaps, atomic power and particle accelerators, neither of which
are found in your typical dojo.


Actually, it's not that hard. It depends on the type of bond, and the
physical force used, but it's quite possible. After all, energy is energy.
If 'heat' can do it, other forms of kinetic energy can do so as well since
they all devolve into heat in the end, anyway). And there is a 'bond' of a
sort between molecules. Called, prosaically enough, inter-molecular bonds.
And they are, in a fashion, 'chemical bonds.' Not being an actual chemist
(anybody? anybody?), I can't really go into any more detail than that,
though, for most, this is no doubt already too much. (Though some of your
later comments seem to indicate that you are a chemist, and perhaps I'm
suffering from the usual technical-term vs. common usage problem).
