Here is another part of my new Tenchi fic. I am naming this Twist of Destiny.

Long

Tell me what you think

November 30, 1998

Falling to her knees, "Why? I thought you loved me!" the girl asked the boy
in front of her.

"Never doubt that," the boy replied, "I knew your family was a little
different. That I could understand, everyone is unique. What I can't handle
is that your grandfather is over a thousand years old and that you are a
princess of a planet that I've never heard of." Near the end, the boy had to
stop to compose himself before continuing. "Gomen, Achika. Please forgive
me." with that he turned around and walked away, leaving behind a weeping
girl.

"Ryo!" she cried after the boy but he never acknowledged her plea.

Appearing besides her, an elderly man started to comfort the girl. "I'm so
sorry."

"Why can't I be a normal girl like everyone else?"

"Because it is your destiny," he replied.

	"What about yours?" she countered.

Clearing his throat, *She got me on that one,* he thought. "Mine lies
elsewhere," was his vague answer.

"I want to live a normal live. I want to fall in love and raise a family. I
don't care about some planet I've never seen or been to."

*So much like her mother,* Katsuhito reminisced. Placing his right hand on
her brow, he started to glow. "Forget," he commanded. *I should have done
this a long time ago after finding out she was not destined to rule Jurai.*
He had done this many times in the past. He was sealing away all knowledge
and power related to her birthright so that she could have her wish.

For a brief moment, Achika saw behind the shroud of mystery. She saw a young
man where her grandfather used to be. *Will I ever live that long?* she
thought, finally understanding a little more about the mysteries surrounding
the man by the name of Katsuhito. A brief breeze seemed to past as Achika
thought she heard someone whispering, "Only time will tell."
