Ahh, every Ranma 1/2 fan's greatest dream- Takasahi re-starting Ranma 1/2.
IIRC, she said that she didn't end the manga series, but rather that she was
taking a 'breather' from working on it. Somehow, I doubt that she will be
returning to Ranma 1/2 for long time, as long as she's working on Inu-Yasha.
I'm pretty sure that will run on for another few years, as she already had
shown with her work on Lum Yatseri (sp?), Masion Ikkuo, and lately Ranma 1/2.
In fact, I don't think she will return to it at all.

I do admit that I want to see manga contiune (but not anime version), but I
personally wouldn't recommend it. If there's nothing else, it's already shown
that longer a show or series goes on, it will suffer badly. Take Sailor Moon
for an example, by its third season, it was one of the most popular anime
series. But when fourth season (which IMO, was the worst), its ratings dropped
sharply. The fifth season didn't help much except to lessen the 'interest' or
appeal of the show, so it was decided that the show should end while it
retained some of its former popularity. This could happen to Ranma if she
decided to contiune it.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is an incredible example of ending things instead of
running on. NGE ended last spring, and there's hordes of fans (or anti-fans)
everywhere yapping on and on about it. Better leave everything else up to
fans' imaginations.

Repetion is not necessarily a good thing. Better leave Ranma 1/2 as it is and
leave unsolved dilemna up to our imaginations. Fanfics are good example of
this. When we began writing Ranma fanfics (and I wasn't there when it all
began), it was done out of of pure enterainment and interest as well as fun.
But it soon grew out of control as R1/2 fanfics are being churned out at the
rate of hundreds per year, with only a hundred or so being actually sumbitted
to RAAC or to more well-known places in the Internet. Due to excessive
fanfics, Ranma no longer seem as exciting as it used to be few years due to
endless reptitions and each year there are fewer and fewer original R1/2
fanfics being written. After a hundred of 'Akane gets Ranma' (^_^) or 'Shampoo
gets Ranma' and Ukyo as well, things tend to become boring and repetive. Is it
worth it to contiune a series when it's already been fanfic-written to death?

Still, if Takasahi DOES decide to re-start Ranma 1/2, then she should either
end it quickly as possible, or introduce new factor into the series, like
creating a new spin-off from the original series. A new manga series starring
some new characters that are related to the original series would be a good
idea. I mean, BSSM was a spin-off from the original Sailor V manga, wasn't it?

What I'm saying here is that having Takasahi picking off where Ranma 1/2 ended
sometime in the future, is a near-impossibility. Even if she did so, it's
bound to fare badly due to basic repetition (same finacee problems, same
curses, same daily troubles, etc.), unless she can change things drastically,
enough to re-spark interest in the manga- a spin-off of the original series
would do that. I'd recommend that if she does pick-off the series, that she
END it immediately, within one or three additional volumes, but no further
than that.

In another words, our dear Takasahi'd better think things out carefully
whether it's worth it to contiune the series.

Until then, all we can do is to enjoy her current work on Inu-Yasha (which has
proven to be very interesting manga series, that I'm enjoying tremendously),
and be happy that she was able to deliever to us 38 volumes of Ranma 1/2.
Of course we can always resort to writing and reading fanfics, ne? ^_^

<glances back to what he just wrote> I didn't mean to write it out like this.
It began out as a wistful thought, but it soon grew into a analysis of the
pro-cons of resuming a series, and it's probably off-topic. I mean, this isn't
even related to fanfics (well, not directly). Oh gomen, I didn't mean to do
that- If you want to reply to my comments, please do so privately via email,
because I think this contriubtes to spam.

For those interested (and make it less off-topic), I am working a new fanfic
contiunation to Ranma on similar idea that I had just mentioned above- I'm
planning on picking off where Takasahi left off, with one major chhings will
happen in the future dramatically. A old familiar person will disappear
forever, but not before leaving an impact on everyone- more so for Ranma and
Akane themselves, since they find themselves in a predicament that nobody
would have believed.
Though, before I can contiune this, I am sorely in need of a sort of co-
author, who has plently of experience in Ranmaverse and creating new
challenges, as well writing ranmafics. I really want to work on this, but I
lack experience in writing Ranma fanfics, so I would appreciate big assistance
in planning- I don't mind writing the whole series myself; I just need help in
planning the whole thing. So, if there's anybody who fits in the single big
preque above and willing to become co-author with me, please contact me. When
you do so, I'll start filling you in with whatever details I have. Thanks.
