Actually, this isn't true anymore. By properly configuring your
mailcap file, you can teach any MIME-aware Unix mailer (and most
of them are, nowadays) to display most kinds of documents -- yes,
even those darn MS-Turd documents.
I think the best format is to send fics as part of teh main body of the
email, in English, in plain text (not html-ised), with paragraphs properly
formatted. Large fics are probably best sent as a series of 30k (or whatever
your limit is) articles. Really large fics (1mb plus) are probably best sent
as a zip attachment, and then only by specific request to individuals.
I don't know about this. It's amazing how many newbies out there simply
are unable to grasp the concept of a zip file.
