Some time ago, I did a little survey to find out what mail programs had what
limitations. Anyone wanting to widen their potential audience or complain
about how others send their fics should bear the following in mind. Our
survey said:

Netscape: max 30k in main body, plus upto 2mb as attchments.

Hotmail: max 30k. cannot handle JIS text (Japanese)

Any UNIX mailer: cannot read any attachment that is not plain text (txt).


I think the best format is to send fics as part of teh main body of the
email, in English, in plain text (not html-ised), with paragraphs properly
formatted. Large fics are probably best sent as a series of 30k (or whatever
your limit is) articles. Really large fics (1mb plus) are probably best sent
as a zip attachment, and then only by specific request to individuals.
